new to codes very confused help me

ok i hare been on here reading off and on so i call to see if i have a code, and wow i do, but boy it is only good from may - july, i am not going until next dec can i expect another code, when should i check for next dec like next april or so, and just how good can the codes be, thanks a lot

The release of codes is contingent upon many things, one of them being occupancy, so no one knows when or if there will be any. The rates can be different, too, for AP holders and/or Florida residents and there are some e-mail rates with pin numbers as well. Mousesavers is a great source for historical information. Codes for December could come out as late as November, so you will have to continue to monitor.

Do you have a code or a PIN?

There are public codes (generally 3 letters) and can be applied to your reservation through an affiliation (Annual passholder, Florida Resident, general public). These are released (or may not be released) throughout the year. For example, it seems as though there are no general code discounts for May and June due to increased bookings, but Disney could surprise at any time. Public codes and historical information are on mousesavers.com.

There are also private codes (also 3 letters) that are sent to select people generally through a postcard. These private codes are attached to your specific name or address. You MUST have the postcard with you when you check in or you will (probably) pay rack rate. The reservation usually states this.

A PIN is 10 numbers and is generally attached to your specific name, e-mail, or mailing address. Although the offer can be the same, they too are private, and like the postcard you are the only one (under the rules) who can use it.

I am lucky enough to have a PIN for my June trip that came via e-mail to me. DH deleted the e-mail after I made my reservations. The CRO said that I did not need the original e-mail for my check-in - the PIN was "attached to my name".

There is generally great excitement on these boards when PINS and postcards come out for new time frames - it means that public codes (hopefully) are on the way!

If your trip is next December (2006?) it is unlikey that your discount could be applied to that. It seems to be too far out. Never hurts to ask, though.

I was told that there are currently no pin codes or AP discounts out that would be valid in December.

I was told by a very helpful CRO agent (I was booking a grand gathering) that discount codes for December would be most likely to come out between very late July, and early September.

Pin codes are random (well, they are targeted marketing, and no one seems to know how they are targeted). Don't count on getting a pin code, the odds don't favor it.

My understanding is bookings are WAY ahead of the last three years, and there will probably be fewer discounted rooms available.

The AP discounts apply to a limited number of rooms (much like the AAA rate), and if the property is full or projected to be full they may not offer the discount for that date or may offer fewer rooms.

That being said, I still hope for pin code, and will likely use the AP discount when it comes out. I have scheduled my vacation in early December thinking that it should be easier to get an AP discount during a less busy time.

Let them know you are glad you have a pin but wont be going that early and that you hope you get one for when you are traveling, or you might not be able to stay on site, I bet you end up with one. They might even flag your name to receive one later, I heard someone else was told that.

I kept hearing of these wonderful 'discount codes' and couldn't figure out what secret club I had to belong to to know what they were! I will visit Mousesavers.com and look into this, thank you!
