New to Boardwalk Villas

Thank you so much for all your help! I understand they don't have housekeeping everyday but can you get clean towels? Is that the daily housekeeping fee you were talking about? I am going to check the other boards you mentioned. Thank you for suggesting them. When you're new to these boards it can be overwhelming. I am the sole planner for our family when it comes to vacation and I want to make sure I have everything in order. I understand I have to set up a My Disney Experience account. The DVC owner I rented from sent me a confirmation from Disney. Is that the number I use when opening my MDE account?

If you want more clean towels, you'll need to purchase an extra towel pack for $6 (four extra bath towels, two extra hand towels, four extra face cloths and an extra tub mat). Or you can launder them yourself in the laundry room.

Or you can pay for extra Trash and Towel service every day you want fresh towels.

We are looking at buying resale BWV points. We will be there in Oct, I told DH lets have a tour of the resort to see if we like it. I will see what he thinks of the other Epcot DVC.

It's actually 180 days before your check in day for making advanced dining resies (ADRs). Making fast pass plus (FP+) resies is 60 days before check in day.

ALso, OP, I own at Boardwalk Villas (BWV) and have stayed there 3 times. We love it there. It is nice to be able to walk to/from Epcot and Hollywood Studios...or take the boat. Two negatives are that parking isn't super close...if you have a car with you. Other resorts you can park right near your building but not at Boardwalk. Also, there are long long hallways you walk down to get to your room so you might want to request being close to an elevator (if the long hallways bother you). Here is a resort layout so you can see where your room categories are located and it might help you with putting in a location request (which might have to be done through the owners you are renting from... or if you can do online check in on your MDE, then you can make some requests on there): http://touringplans.com/hotel_maps/disneys-boardwalk-villas

Thank you for the map plan of BWV. That is so helpful! With each research item I am getting more and more excited. This is a surprise for our sons and I want to share it so bad but I will keep it under wraps for now. LOL They know we are taking them on a cruise but my husband and I decided to take them to Disney before hand. We told them we might have time to stop by Disney for a souvenir but we wouldn't have time to stay. I can't wait to see their reaction when we tell them we're staying for 6 nights and 7 days.

Andi - yes, the lobby to check in at is in the middle of the entire resort. Then the Inn, which is the 'regular' hotel, is on one side and the Villas, the timeshare part, is on the other side. No difference in checking in (well, other than what room you get, of course!)

You should shortly receive, via U.S.P.S. mail, a brochure that talks about your Disney stay at the Boardwalk. There are a couple of pages that are specifically personalized for your stay, including the dates you are staying as well as the dates on which you can start making your reservations for dining and FastPass+, so catch that before the kids get a look at it. :)

kitty - yes, by all means check out both the Boardwalk and the Beach Club since they're both right there. I know there's an office off the Boardwalk itself for DVC; that's where I saw the model rooms 16 years ago or so. Whether they still have that setup or if it's a much smaller office I'm not sure, but it's down past the sundry store, past the brewery and before the dance hall/dueling pianos bar places. But there's no reason you can't check out some of the amenities such as the Community Hall (they don't check for id just to walk in! :rotfl:) and the sundry stores. I think the Beach Club store even has one of those cafeteria style counters for hot sandwiches and such inside their store.

Andi - I just noticed that you're driving. There is free parking, but it's not exactly close to the lobby. If you expect to be tired, consider "hiding" as much as you can and just take in some overnight necessities and, perhaps, breakfast items and then put everything away in the room the next day.

In a studio you'll have fewer opportunities to cook and do laundry, but if you're driving you'll have more choices in what you can bring. There's often threads in these DVC forums and occasionally in the Resort and/or Budget forums about cooking while at Disney - a CrockPot is your friend, for sure! If you don't want to cook, you can get breakfast items in the sundry store like cereal, milk, eggs and bacon. Or try some of the bakery options - the sticky bun is very good! With kids that age, I'd suggest the soda fountain of Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club for lunch or supper. Very fun. allears.net has menus for pretty much every restaurant available, including at the Swan and Dolphin hotels.

It sounds like you're on your way to a really fun adventure!

Thank you so much for all the tips! We have never stayed at BWV and this is all new to me. I appreciate all the tips I can get. LOL The owner I rented points from said she received my payment and contract so I guess we are all in. Can I open a MDE account now? When I tried to it said my email already had an account. But I don't know the password. I've emailed her so hopefully she can tell me something.

As I mentioned above an MDE account has zero to do with having a reservation so the owner your renting from can't help. If you've had any Online accounts with disney in the past then that is why your Email is used they - pretty much just transferred over previous info to their new system. The password would be the same as your previous but if you don't remember it then you'll need to reset it or contact Disney for help in resetting it. MDE is essentially Disneys repository for everything you do there. It will tie together all your ticket information, dining reservations, hotel reservations etc. it's your portal access to all of that and your magic and information as well as fastpass information. And you can have access to or control all of your families information too,

I had to reset my password. It's all good now. This MDE is so exciting! I love that you can do everything from there. Our reservation is linked and I was able to customize our MB. Do they mail those closer to the time you leave for vacation or mail them now? Since this is a surprise for our boys I want to catch them in the mail before they see them. LOL

When they started with the Magic Bands they were shipping them approx 30 days prior to check in but now it seems it closer to 20 days ahead of time. It will show on your account when they ship so you'll have a heads up that they'll be arriving.
