We are in the great debate about buying DVC. I have a few questions and hope that someone will have the answers. Thank you in advance for your time....
1. Are the points quick to rent.???We will be buying more than we need annually and want to make sure that we will not have a problem renting them out if we so desire.
2. Is the renting process easy?? Any bad experiences??? How does it work???
3. Any regrets making the purchase???
4. Does anyone know the point system for the Disney Cruise Line. We have been on several cruises and would like to know if it is beneficial.

Thanks again!

I have rented my points out several times, and I always could rent more points than I have available, and I own 650, so yes, I think it's easy. However, you will need days where you are not working to do this. People do not want to wait two or three days for an email from you, and a week or more till you get around to actually making ressies for them. I always rent in the summer, since I am a teacher during the rest of the year. I have never had a BAD experience, but I have had many SIGH experiences. People think you are like CRO, so they email you just out of curiosity, they don't really want you to actually make ressies for them. LOTS of people are like that--apparently your time isn't as valuable as their's. Some people only rent to members to avoid this problem, and that's something that I may switch to the next time I rent. I have also rented points from other members, and never had problems with anyone. Of course, you have to keep your word, otherwise you're dust--your rep is ruined.

You will need to buy MANY more points than you think you will need. Lots of people are looking for 200 points or more. I cater to those needing smaller amounts only.

Regrets? NO! Absolutely not! It has been one of the best experiences of my life, buying DVC. It becomes a way of life. We take 3 trips a year now, thanks to DVC, and my grown kids love to go along. This year we may end up taking 4 or 5 trips--it gets in your blood.:p

Suggestion:

Actually find out something about renting points before you decide to jump in with both feet and buy more points than you need. There is a FAQ on the rent / trade board that explains some of the options for renting points. Point renting is a transaction between two independent parties. DVC will do nothing to troubleshoot / facilitate / mediate the the process.

If this is a case where you don't need 150 points per year (the minimum DVC will sell), consider a resale with the number of points that you will actually use.
