New Thread - What have you seen on the EA?

I am hoping to pick up a very fuel efficient car on the EA for the last two weeks of Dec. We have a lot of driving to do and definately will not pick a van (if one is available).

I wonder if there will be less fuel efficient vehicles avail (such as vans) due to the high gas prices.

But I guess for those who drive from MCO-Disney and don't drive much while there, then fuel efficiency wouldn't be a huge issue.

We are driving from MCO to Siesta Key then will do a lot of day trips while there.

I picked up my rental at MCO on Sep. 1 all they had on EA were G6's and Malibu's.

Deafinetly take a G6 or Malibu. Both cars get over 30 mpg on the highway and the G6 is an absloute gourgous car!

I can't believe I just found this thread! I've been on the Transportation board daily for the past two months!! Guess the Title just wasn't getting my attention!! :rotfl:

I'm currently renting a full size car. Anyone know if they've put anything additional on the line other than an Impala? I'm now thinking maybe I should have just paid for the intermediate as I would love the excitement of having several different cars to choose from. Of course that could be taking a risk from what I understand. So since I'm renting a full size does that mean there is no chance for an upgrade?

LOVE this thread!!!!!

Personally, I love getting the "chance" for an upgrade, thats why I rent Intermediates. If you stick with the Full Size, chances are you will end up with an Impala. The "usual's" on the Intermediate alse are...

Chevy Malibu
Pontiac G6
Pontiac Vibe

If you really need a full sized though...isn't it risky to rent an intermediate? Do they always have a full sized in the EA?

When I rented in Los Angeles, I rented an intermediate...and the only cars they had there were intermediates with really small trunks. We barely fit two large suitcases in the car (I can't remember what car it was anymore...) but it was between the Monte Carlo that smelled like dead fish and some other car. We picked the other car.

There was only 1 Monte Carlo and all the other cars were the same model.

If you need Full size then book a Full size. EA only guarantees Intermediates. I've done EA for at least 6 trips and I've never gotten anything but an Intermediate.

arrived 9/14 4:30pm on the B side.
A few G6's and a Pontiac Torrent which we took. Had 290 miles on it. In case you're wondering what it is, it's Pontiacs 2006 SUV. Fun to drive and tons of room for DW and I, not too bad on gas either.

Executive aisle had a HHR which would have been fun.

we rented a full size through Emerald Reserve on 8/24/05 and when we arrived in MCO, there was nothing left on the full size aisle. The attendant told us to take anything we wanted of the executive aisle (I think it was executive) so we ended up with a Chevy Uplander minivan for only $173 for 10 days!! The attendant did say that it was unusual to not have any full size cars left, though and not to expect it everytime.

WOW, I've got Emerald Reserve for December...that would be amazing if I could get the Uplander. Too bad there will probably be all kinds of regular full sized cars in the aisle. LOL Oh well...we can hope, eh?

9/23 10:15am A-Side

Normal offering of Malibus, G6's, a Stratus, and...2 2006 Saturn Vues and 1 2006 Pontiac Torrent. We took a Vue, because I have been looking at that for my car. 1850 miles on it, but it still smelled new :)

Bump....

I am hoping for something cool when I head down on the 20th, so I just wanted to see how it's going on the EA.

Thanks!

We were there on Sept. 14th. Even though we are Executive Aisle folks, I did look into the EA to see what was there. It was filled with such a variety. I saw lots of SUVs and minivans and was impressed. We choose our Uplander from the Executive Aisle, but had many choices in the EX Aisle. Our Uplander had 6 miles on it. We were in Side A and I think I convinced my daughter to join EA, since she had Emerald Reserve for a full size car and the lot was near empty except a 2 door Malibu and finally a Impala returned. She took the Impala but hated it all week since she normally drives a Durago. I looked at the Emerald Aisle and told her, she would have had lots of choices had she joined like I told her.

I am in WDW now, picked up my Emerald Aisle Friday night, 9-30 at about 9pm. We took a Saturn Vue (SUV). There were about 5 of them and they were going fast, lots of luggage space, comfortable. There were cars there too, of course, nice selection.

Just got back last night. We were on A side on the 23rd to pick up our vehicle. The lot was full of vehicles. I don't think I saw an empty spot. I saw alot of Saturn Vues, Chevy Malibus, Pontiac G6's. I saw one PT Cruiser and Pontiac Torrent, which is what we took. It was a nice vehicle. It is a sport utility vehicle. Ours came with 175 miles and leather interior, ;) heated seats, sunroof and luggage rack. I highly recommend this truck. I loved riding around in this vehicle. It is the only Torrent we saw for the week we were down there. Made it really easy to spot in the crowd. :wave2:

The Torrent is brand spankin new, so thats why nobody has them yet. Just for varification, the Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Saturn Vue are all built on the same platform...

Thanks for the info!! I don't know much about cars so can you explain to me what that means, being built on the same platform? My husband and I were both impressed with the handling of the Torrent. So of course, he wants to to buy one. :moped:

A 2 door Malibu is considered a full size car? OK, now I'm worried... :worried:
