Hi everyone! We are staying at AKL in January and wanted to know if anyone had good ideas for dining, shows, etc to book for early mornings and evenings since I know it can be chilly during those times in January.

Since we'll be there for a week and swimming probably isn't in the cards, we don't mind traveling to different parks, resorts, etc. my kids will be just turning 5 at the time.

We've never done BBB or Pirate League with them, so I thought that might be good. Otherwise, I'm not sure!

Thanks!

In jan, crowds will be slower, prem rides will be less crowded so may allow for double quick rides... Inside rides and theater shows, even it you think you won't enjoy them. We have brought light jackets and a backpack to stuff them into later in the day.. through in snacks and you are good to go.

Any good theater shows in particular?

Shows In Magic Kingdom:
Enchanted Tales with Belle
Country Bear Jamboree
Tiki Room
Mickey's Philharmagic (3D movie)

Animal Kingdom:
Festival of the lion king
Nemo musical
Its tough to be a bug (movie)

Hollywood Studios:
Disney jr. Live on stage
Little mermaid
Beauty and the beast
Muppetvision 3D (movie)

Epcot:
I believe every country in world showcase has a movie
I don't spend a ton of time in future world other than to ride the major attractions but I do believe there are shows here too.

My daughter turned 5 right before our trip last August and she really liked the movie in the China pavilion.

If you can only catch one in each park this is my list
Magic: if your with kids enchanted tails with bell. Easily. Every kid wants to be in a story book and this is there chance. With bell dancing away and your kids acting out the day that bell and beast fell in love. It is fun for everyone

Animal: festival of the lion king! Not only is this about the most successful Disney movie ever but it also has the music the dancing the singing and everything you love about lion king plus your kid can go up and dance on stage with everyone

Epcot: I don't really care that much about the shows in epcot but since I am from Canada I would say go see the Canada show you learn a lot about Canada.

Hollywood: gosh so many good shows but above all. It has to be voyage of the little mermaid. Ursula ariel eric max. This show has them all. And really packs a punch with the singing. And the kids will love it

I hope you guys have fun on your trip. Go see all the shows you can but there are 4 not to miss shows :)

Unless you are going the 1st week of January or MLK week-end, crowds will be low and even with cold temps that makes for a GREAT trip. We have learned to use the cool to cold temps to our advantage. EMHs in cooler weather are fantastic. It might be a bit cold at 8:00 in the morning, but if you dress warm, and avoid the wet rides, it is really not too bad and the NO LINES are great. We avoid heavy coats, even in the coldest times, and instead layer to the max!! We wear 3-4 layers and hats and gloves. Tennis shoes and socks, unless it is raining are also our game plan. Many of the shows do not start at rope drop, but many of the ride through rides (think POC) are not cold inside. The only issue we have ever really had with really cold weather was at AK, two years ago when it was about 27 degrees at AK EMH. It was too cold to have fun, and we rode EE during that time and that cold air really hurt our chest and lungs. Not good for my DS22 that has some asthma. That same AM we saw a guy swimming in the resort pool!!!! He was a really large man, with very white skin and he was floating around on his back. My little guy remarked that he looked like a polar bear!:rotfl2:. We rarely swim in January but there is often a few days warm enough for an afternoon dip in the heated pool. Oh....as the day warms up, you can rent a locker to stash the layers of clothes.
