Thought you all might be interested in some new things coming to dining...

Guests may be directed to the Celebration Advisor (click on the floating balloon with “Start Your Celebration”) on the website to familiarize themselves with these products.

Thanks DisneyDine! You're too good to everyone here :goodvibes

Those things sound gimmicky, but fun, and if I went for my birthday, I'd probably order one. :goodvibes The prices aren't too bad either.

So, if you want crayons and coloring book to enertain the young ones, you now have to pay for it! Sounds like a great way to cut costs--for Disney.

It sounds like they are trying to make money in new ways. I certainly hope that crayons are still offered to those who get kid's menus and don't opt for buying the goodie bag. ::yes::

I hope so, too. But this sounds like Disney is going the way of the Airlines. Nickel and diming every little thing. At least Disney makes it sound somewhat appealing.

I think it sounds pretty neat. Nice little tidbits to add a little sparkle to a meal. Unfortunately none suit our travel party.

I can only imagine the poor little kids looking at the "decorated" table and wondering why they couldn't have that too. While I agree, it isn't expensive I'm sure there will be some families that will have to skip the frivilious things. Its kind of sad.

Interesting..
thanks for sharing the news with us!

I looked it up on Disney's website and it says it's not available until Spring 2009? :confused3 I would love to see some pics of the actual stuff too but of course that's not on their site either.

There will be more and more of this type of thing. If you haven't seen the special occasion packages you can purchase to decorate your room, it is along this line (only hundreds of dollars)

Disney is a business at the end of the day. They are capitalizing on what the public wants, special things to make their trip special. You can now pay for the service :) and get that special once in a lifetime special event....for a price of course

Well, I for one, love the idea of the pirates chest. :thumbsup2 We will be celebrating our son's 13th birthday at Chef Mickeys and were looking for an option other than a big cake. Spending $40 or so on a full sized cake that our small family of 3 couldn't eat in one sitting seemed silly, but NOT having anything at all seemed even worse. The $15 treasure chest might be cheesy, or even juvenile for my brand-new teenager, but it will bring just the right amount of "celebration" to our table for a reasonable cost.

I say YAY DISNEY!

You know, I find it ironic that this stuff is offered for the Character meals. When I first read about it I was thinking it might be kind of cool for a non-character meal to keep the kids occupied, but at a character meal we're so busy either getting food quickly before we miss the characters or spending time with the characters. Seems silly to get extra stuff the kids won't have to time to play with or use!

Trails End, Boma and Biergarten are not character meals. Ohana, 1900 Park Fare, Hollywood & Vine, Cape May, and Tusker House have characters for breakfast only.

The participating restaurants ARE all either buffets or family style places.
