New Testing Rule for Short (Less Than 72 Hours) Trips

Well, I don't know how new the rule is. It's definitely less than six weeks old. I'm a dual citizen and drove to the US in August, and this *definitely* was not the rule then. Finally someone came to their senses.

For short trips that are less than 72 hours, Canadian citizens, people registered under the Indian Act, permanent residents and protected persons travelling outside of Canada are allowed to do their pre-entry molecular test before they leave Canada.

• If your test is more than 72 hours old when you re-enter Canada, you’ll be required to get a new pre-entry molecular test
• Before leaving Canada, verify that you meet the entry requirements for your destination country

So, for anyone doing a short trip for business, family, or vacay, you no longer have to figure out how to get a test during your vacation. I do short trips to check up on my parents, so I love being able to get one in my hometown and leave for my trip knowing I just need the results. If you're not in a tourist center or large urban place, it can be quite a hassle to get an appointment and get the test, even as someone with a Social Security Number.
I know this does not affect many here, but it will affect a few and probably someone you know at some point.
