Would anyone be interested in doing a Year of Holidays/Seasons type of swap? It probably would have to be due around Jan 31st or Feb 15th since the holidays are fast approaching. Maybe a couple groups of 10, I'm thinking of categories like each of the 4 seasons and then New Year's Day, Valentines, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, maybe a general birthday one. etc. I could host it, although I've never hosted one before, I'd be willing to learn. WDYT?

Sounds interesting! I might be interested!! I am involved in my first swap right now, so the more info you give me the better off I will be.

Explain it like I were a 6 yr. old child.....

LOL-And I mean that literally! This swap I am in was a "buy for someone" swap not a "Make Something" swap. Help a newbie out, LOL!!!!

:earsgirl:

YOur swap sounds like a great idea! Have you ever checked out the swaps at www.papercraftsmag.com??
It's great place to host a swap as they organize everything for you. It's easy to keep track of how many spaces are left, who has signed up, and it's easy to communicate with everybody who has signed up. Perhaps, you would post it there and put a link here for those who are interested...Just an idea :smooth:

I actually checked interest on this a couple months back and was waiting till Dec. 1st to start signups on it. Here is the thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=905066&

LOL! I guess great minds think alike. ;)

Would you maybe want to expand it some? Say the participants get to pick two/three elements like a topper/border, shaker boxes, deco squares etc. I'd be willing to help you if you wanted.

Sharon- I'll look into that. :)

I was thinking of expanding it to a page kit swap -- 4 elements. Originally when I came up with the concept, it was when we had alot of swaps going on, so I limited it to box'n'tag so as to not overwhelm people... but in the new year, there should be a bit more breathing room :)

BTW if you want to host it, you're welcome to... I think I'm still on track for hosting a couple more next year anyway...

If no one else wants to host- I will. I know others are in front of me to host- But if you need someone- I'm happy to!

IF it ends up turning into a page kit type swap like the current disney one I would be interested. I really have fun creating a page kit and making only 5 of each item.

Me too!

I was thinking in terms of 12 participants since there are 12 months in a year.... or maybe we can do a spring/summer and a fall/winter with groups of 6??

I like the idea.....thanks for suggesting it. As you see we all get excited about swaps around here.

Potterphreak....swaps are where you pick a theme like...xmas, haunted mansion, mickey, fall etc. Then you would pick the items you would like to make for your theme like...topper, border, tag, shaker box, journaling box, etc.
Then you make enough of each item for each participant. You bag the items for each person seperately and send them off to the hostess. She in turn makes complete sets of all the swap items and sends them off to each person. So if there are 5 participants plus you, you will get 5 sets of items plus one of yours back. Its loads of fun. And it really helps when you need to do a themed page, you have all the stuff you need.

For those of you suggesting page kits.....does that mean unassembled items for the other person to do, or everything you need for a layout including mounting paper...or?

I like the idea but would want to keep it manageable. So if we voted on page kits maybe we can do it like bubbasmom suggested....fall/winter spring/summer so we only have to do 5 or so. Anything else gets me crazy.

I'm interested in this one too. I like not having to make 24 of everything too. The current Bazzill swap is a lot of fun to make. If it's going to be like that, I'm in.

Okay, I'm just thinking out loud here so bear with me... we would have a Fall/Winter group of 6, and a Spring/Summer group of 6. You would do a 4x6 photo mat and 3 more items of your choice:

Topper – 8 ½ inches
Set of 2 borders – 11 inches
Frame (4x6)
Tag (at least 2x3) – including fiber and/or eyelet
Journal box with at least 2x2 space
Monogram (at least 4x4)
Set of 4 deco squares
Song Lyric or poem
Set of 2 slide mounts
Library Pocket & Tag
Mini File Folder
License Plate Frame
Shaker Box
Paper Piecing
Eyelets/Brads (6) and Fiber/Ribbon (1 yard)
Matchbook
Anything else!?!? Open to new ideas and creativity!

Groups:

Fall/Winter:
September - Back to School or Fall/Harvest
October - Halloween or Fall/Harvest
November - Thanksgiving
December - Christmas or Holidays
January - New Year's Eve, New Year's, or Winter
February - Valentine's

Spring/Summer:
March - St. Patrick's Day
April - Easter or Spring
May - Mother's Day or Spring
June - Father's Day or Summer (i.e. Pool, Beach, etc)
July - Independence Day
August - Summer or Vacation (i.e. travel-related)

We could also have a group that does it in Bazzill only. I like Bazzill and would be willing to participate in a Bazzill only group so that I would get Bazzill quality back.

Of course, whoever hosts can change it around however they like. I would be willing to host, but I want to give others a chance to host if they want to... so I guess we just need to see who is going to host :)

I am super interested, but as I said earlier, super new to this, so explaining it like I was a 6 year old would be great. :rotfl:

Would we need to do 3 things for each month/holiday? Let me know, I am interested in doing Bazzill only as well, as I have never used it before. Would need some advance notice though so I can purchase some online (haven't seen it at Michaels).

Bubbasmom - That sounds great! I think it is exactly what I was hoping for. I don't mind hosting it, but I don't have my heart set on it. I'm a newbie when it comes to hosting swaps, so everyone would have to be a little patient with me. :earsboy:

Okay, I hope I'm explaining this right. You would get to pick a month/holiday/season. Let's just say for example you picked Oct. So, you would make 5 sets of 4x6 photo mats and 3 other items of your choice in a Halloween/ Fall theme. So after you make 5 sets of each item you would send them off to the hostess. She then would send you back a set of your Oct items, plus the items made for Sept, Nov, Dec and Jan. Does that make sense?

PoohBear, thank you so much for clarifying that for me!!! That REALLY helped!! LOL Now, my NEW question is, can someone explain what some of these things are (preferably with pics)

Topper – 8 ½ inches *Ok, I think I know what this is
Set of 2 borders – 11 inches *Yep, this one too
Frame (4x6)
Tag (at least 2x3) – including fiber and/or eyelet *Ditto on this one
Journal box with at least 2x2 space *Got a good idea how to do this
Monogram (at least 4x4)---HUH?? LOL
Set of 4 deco squares *Found a site that walks you through this, so no prob
here
Song Lyric or poem
Set of 2 slide mounts *I still don't really get what these are, LOL
Library Pocket & Tag
Mini File Folder *Saw these on eBay, don't know what to do with them....
License Plate Frame *Huh? LOL
Shaker Box
Paper Piecing
Eyelets/Brads (6) and Fiber/Ribbon (1 yard) *Just give some 6 eyelets or
brads and ribbon?

Matchbook *I have seen these, just buy them (or make them-Sizzix has a new die, WOOHOO! LOL) and send them off?

I am open to doing a seasonal one as well as a Disney one. I am getting my very first annual pass to DL this year and have a TON of trips coming up and am going to do my VERY FIRST DL ONLY album (usually do 2-4 pages in an existing album) and would LOOOOVE to participate in a Disney swap for help/ideas/inspiration/motivation.

But for the seasonal, sign me up for July, Thanksgiving or Christmas-whichever someone else wants the LEAST. Got some super cute digital stuff I am have been yearning to try out. Also willing to do something with Bazzill. Hey, I am pretty willing here! Just not as able, LOL!!!!
