New Summer Ticket Offer!

Nice ticket offer, but I wonder how bad the crowds will be due to this offer.
Disney is offering this deal due to projected low crowds. It should increase crowds but there’s a reason the crowd levels were projected to be low. Disneyland is no longer a hot destination for summer for whatever reason.

The days to watch as the first week the tickets are valid and especially the last week they are valid. The last week is almost guaranteed to be very busy because people will want to use up their last days before theIr tickets expire.

When is the first week?

And for the ticket offer, if you know your dates, buy as soon as you can. The special summer offer tickets have a different reservation bucket than other ticket types and we do not know how restrictive the bucket is.

Thanks everyone for the news about the summer sale. We were able to re-book DL hotel, get three-day instead of two-day park passes, and saved just over $500.00! Thanks.

We are two grandparents taking two grandsons (ages 12 and 7) for their first time. We won't have park hoppers but will have G+. We originally planned to use our two day passes like this: one DCA day (Sunday), one rest/pool day with Goofy's Kitchen (Monday), and one DL day (Tuesday).

Now that we have another day we want to spend two days in DL. Which do you suggest?
1. Early Entry DL on Saturday, check in day (we arrive Friday night because flight cancellations/delays happen!).
2. DL on Monday without EE, skip Goofy's and pools.
Or do you have third option I should consider? We can't go to the park on check out day (Wednesday) due flight times.

So, two sources online are tossing out HM opening July 9th via a virtual queue.

Any thoughts on the validity of this?

As wonderful as that would be, I see two major flaws.

1. The current state of construction makes it nearly impossible to imagine being open in a month.

2. I cannot fathom them opening HM 1 month before closing it again to convert to the holiday overlay.

Sorry to be pessimistic, but I don't think HM is opening until Aug 23rd. If it's important to ride it, plan a trip for after that date.

Projected low crowds I might have gone, but now with this deal...I don't know

Even with this deal, I really don't think it will be crowded this summer. More crowded than without it, but still not like other times of year.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I agree with @SOCALMouseMommy. They're offering the deal for a reason.

I'm happy for everyone getting the deal, but it's really not a deal compared to last year's ticket prices. It's "shifting baseline" syndrome so we are all now accustomed to the higher ticket prices.

We were fortunate to buy tickets last September for our trip this summer before the price increase. I've done the math. We paid $40 per person per day less than this new summer ticket promotion (including hoppers and Genie).

Just goes to show how massively they raised prices last year.

I meant to say crowds not kids. I like kids. Dang auto correct. Kind of funny.

Hey, it’s just a rumor. I follow very few bloggers, the mr found this batch when trying to dig for info. Can’t say if they are generally spot on or not.

Posted as I hoped maybe a CM, or three, might get their work schedule/assignments and confirm, anonymously of course.

would just roll with the overlay. If anything would think it would give those (non locals) who can’t travel during the normal period to see it a chance and spark attendance. It obviously must’ve dropped or they wouldn’t have released the newest tix deal for non residents.

Basically, suggested it would be a VQ to ride, with a very limited queue area, until the entire project wraps up. Would involve only a small area while they finish up construction, ergo the need for VQ.

I have zero intel or feelers in any way, shape or form on HM, or DL in general. Ergo, the reason I posted this…hoping for seasoned opinions.

They quote that Patreon account as saying that "Haunted Mansion Holiday" will open in July, with a virtual queue.

Seriously? July??? For a Hallowe'en/Christmas themed overlay?

But, sigh, I'm not betting against it. They're right that with Splash closed and now no SWGE entrance from Hungry Bear, it would be to Disney's benefit to have something to "eat" people in the NOS area. And it would seem unlikely that Disney would reopen the normal HM in July only to quickly take it down again to install the overlay.

A very confusing situation...

Well, the best place to get info is the "official" source. The DLR website.

Right now, the calendar goes through 7/18. It shows Haunted Mansion closed every day in July through 7/18.

Without trying to lend credence to a rumor:

Knowing HM was going to be closed from January to August, there's no way they bothered to remove the overlay. And people like the overlay - it wouldn't be the first "Christmas in July!" that's ever happened. (I'd bet $10 that the Parks Blog will go with some variant of that if it happens.)

Also, there was at least one other ride this year that was shown as being closed long in advance and ended up opening early. (Off the top of my head, I think it was RSR, but it might have been the Matterhorn.)

Honestly, this isn't an especially hard rumor to make. I think it'd be widely expected that they'd use a VQ at first to test the new queue features with a smaller group of people.
