does anyone know for sure if club level at the dolphin is 1250 or 1500 or maybe even 1000 points. is it a hassel to try and upgrade at check-in if you don't get a complimentary one
I know someone posted the name and mailing address of the SPG "head honcho" recently, but I haven't been able to find it here or in the Swan/Dolphin thread...can some kind person re-post? Thanks!
Hi everyone,
I just received me SPG card! I got thinking about upgrades and whether or not I should try for one. I finally decided to go for it. Nothing ventured nothing gained. Which place do I stand a better chance at getting an upgrade? Asking the Dolphin directly or talking to someone at SPG? Also, I've never asked for an upgrade and I don't want to sound stupid when I ask for one. Do I just ask for a comp. upgrade or more specific a CL comp. upgrade. I've read so much on here I'm really not sure what I should ask for! HELP!!! (or maybe a view upgrade, I'm just not sure......) HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!
m.pots - I, too, had never done this before. I e mailed the Dolphin directly (through their website) and just politely asked for any complimentary upgrade that would be available. I told them that it was our first stay at the Dolphin and we were very excited about the resort (all true). I thought a little schmoozing couldn't hurt! I also told them I was spg gold and gave them my spg #.
glo's Swan Dophin FAQ's are at the top of the Disney Resorts board. Dreamflight 99's are more current, and interactive, and I'm sure someone will be along shortly to post the link and a welcome!
I emailed through the starwood page and now my ressie has my request and a note that says it is not guaranteed--that I will know at check in. Oh well--nothing ventured--nothing gained!

We have stayed twice at the Dolphin as Gold members each time I asked for a room upgrade at check-in and was it was granted. Last year we booked cash and points room for I believe $60 or $80 still asked and received a room with a balcony, again with a gold membership to Starwood. 2 stays ago we stayed on the CL with a similar view over the lake and although I liked the breakfasts as a quick start to the day - the balcony was key with two little guys that went to sleep before we did.
Epcot view? Depends how high up you are.
We had a lake view on the bottom floor last year.
Saw the higher fireworks and a great view of lake , bridge and ok view of the boardwalk.
