Planning on purchasing Genie+ for our last week in April trip for one day in DL. Will hit rope drop and head straight to the new land. Thinking could ride Sugglers Run standby then again with a Genie+ reservation. Will also pay for a ILL in order to ride Rise of the Resistance. I would like to have a really good look around the area and take lots of photos and check out the shops. Would really appreciate people's input as to how much time it takes to have a good look around the new area. I know it is a bit subjective but would just like to hear what peoples experiences of the area have been.

If you are really into Star Wars I feel like you could easily spend 2-4 hours exploring the land, looking for the characters, checking out the neat shops, trying the food, having a drink in Oga’s Cantina (reservation or walk up list) and of course riding Smuggler’s Run and RotR. Even with ILL start to finish you will need 30-45 minutes to experience RotR. Add more time if you want to build a droid or light saber at Savi’s.

I love Star Wars and I love Galaxy’s Edge. Even though I’ve been many times I still enjoy spending lots of time in the land.

I'd say around three hours should give you enough time for the rides and the shops. I liked my drink at Docking Bay 7 better than my drink at Oga's. I didn't like the food at Docking Bay 7, but I plan to give it another chance next I visit because they changed the menu.

Are you wanting to do any of the "experiences" in Galaxy's Edge? You can build a droid (starting around $100) or build a lightsaber (I think over $200). If so, factor in more time for that.

I agree with all the above for a first visit. As a huge Star Wars fan I have some complaints about the land (I'm an Original Trilogy guy), but on the first visit you can easily spend 2 or 3 hours just wandering around, taking pictures, checking out the shops, etc. There are tons of details everywhere for Star Wars enthusiasts. I've not built a droid or a lightsaber but they both sound like fun (and expensive) experiences. The detail/theming/architecture here are top notch. Enjoy your trip!

Depending on crowds, you may not even need to use Genie+ for Smuggler's Run. In fact, you might even get by without paying LL for RoTR if you do rope drop and head straight there. (although it's notorious for breaking down...) The land is really cool and walking around it leisurely is fun. I would recommend doing it both during the day and after dark when it's all lit up. You could hit the rides you want there, go to other parts of the park while it's still uncrowded in the morning, and then go back to Galaxy's Edge to explore later in the afternoon when crowds pick up in the rest of the park. We found that a lot of the crowds there were in line for the attractions and walking around was easy in the afternoon.

Thanks so much that is a great idea and one I hadn't even considered. We will definitely use that tactic.

Thanks so much. I too am an original fan (that shows my age doesn't it) so I guess I might not get a lot of the homages but I can't wait to just absorb the theme, and to see the Millennium Falcon will be so cool.

Seeing the Millennium Falcon was the highlight of my time in Galaxy's edge. Getting to walk through it as part of the line for Smuggler's Run was fantastic. I enjoyed riding Smuggler's Run, but I think being able to walk through the Millennium Falcon was better than the actual ride.

We enjoy using the "DataPad" through Disney's Play app. While it drains our phone batteries (lol) ... it keeps us busy scanning crates, collecting digital assets, solving puzzles, scanning for communication transmissions, hacking stuff (droids, towers, controls, etc).

We used to receive "payment" (digital credit in the DataPad) when running missions on Smuggler's Run ... but haven't received these in the last few visits. Even still, we could spend at least 2 hours, each visit, playing the DataPad activities. (Kinda feels like Disney has dialed down the use of the app ... hope it is restored, soon??)

I would also recommend making some time to go back to Galaxy's Edge after dark for more photos. LOVE it back there at night. Nice fireworks view over the Millennium Falcon too (but they do not play the music for the fireworks show back there if that matters to you).

+1 fireworks over the Falcon were great and the CMs have it well organized. 629768

The Star Wars area is stunning at NIGHT too! Be sure to go back and walk through at night if you can add that walk a second time. And the character plays (up on a ledge - but VERY interactive with guests) is great. Fireworks nice there too. Later in the evening, I've just walked onto the Smugglers Run in the solo rider line - but that is a ride that is MORE fun to do as a GROUP (6 on a craft), so worth the wait to stay together since you have two pilots, two gunners, and two engineers on each craft. I did not find the shops that interesting, but wandering that area is VERY cool and I would allow 45+ minutes just to walk there (in its own corner) and thru it? They did an outstanding job on that Land.
