Spent just a few minutes at the member get together 7/22 at BCV. A guide told me pre-sells start 8/2/03 for SSR. They will be sold at 89/pp and will expire 2050. Those who purchase will be able to use the current collect to trade with till 2042 and then will only be able to trade within the new collection, what ever that will include. Osprey is still a hugh go and will be started right away. Also the tree house villas are being spruced up and will be part of SSR. YIPPPEEEE!!!! They are also ahead of schedule on SSR. We talked to another DVC rep while there who told us that DVC is the most profitable of all of Disney. I guess that explains why they are building fast and furious. I was very tempted with a small add on at BWV or BCV as our June uy is still available, but 2 good size add-ons this year is enough. Anyone still on the fence, a lot of uy are already gone, not sure what is left though. Oh yeah, the remaining points at all other resorts will still sell at 84/pp till gone even after pre-sells start for SSR.

I would not be surprised if the Treehouse Villas are reopened as part of the Saratoga Springs Resort — with check-in at the SSR front desk and access to the SSR facilities, including transportation and pools.

But that doesn't have to mean that the Treehouse Villas will be sold as part of DVC, or even that DVC members will be able to stay in the Treehouse Villas with points.

Also, there are other parts of the Villas at Disney Institute that have not been torn down. As demand for WDW lodging returns, these too may be reopened as part of the SSR complex. But, again, that doesn't have to mean as part of DVC.

Consider the Boardwalk complex. There you have BWI (not DVC) and BWV (DVC). At Saratoga Springs, we may end up seeing something similar, but where the non-DVC parts are the older residential buildings.

How large are the Treehouse Villas? I wonder if there's any chance these could become the Grand Villas for SSR?

I was told the tree house villas WILL be part of SSR and sold as such. I'm sure they will be booked like grand villas as in the points structure accordingly.

The Treehouses will need some MAJOR upgrading to be used as Grand Villas. They were originally equipped to accommodate up to 6. There are 2 upstairs bedrooms (each with a queen bed) and 2 bathrooms. Downstairs has one bedroom (with double bed) and the laundry area. (No mention of a third bathroom- let alone a 4th as in all other GV's).

Even the Grand Vista Suites at DI would accommodate up to 8.

The Fairway Villas are currently used to house College Program CM's- but could be used again for cash guests if needed. (These would also require MAJOR upgrading to be included as DVC accommodations.)

Stay Tuned!

In your post you mentioned that they are ahead of schedule on SSR. Any mention at all of a possible opening date??

According to Netcot, the Treehouse Villas are about 900 square feet — about two thirds of the size of a 2BR at OKW. The bathrooms are tiny.

They're not up to the standards of a DVC 2BR, and would certainly not be able to be considered Grand Villas.

Couldn't this be what everyone has wanted: Acconodations for families with 5 or more people. Maybe DVC has heard everyones complaints about 1 bdrms only for 4 people and noe they will have room for those families with 3 kids. What do you all think?

We stayed in a Tree House Villa several years ago. At that time the TH villas were in excellent condition. While we enjoyed our stay very much, the accomodations were in no way comparable to the current DVC units. As mentioned, the bathrooms were quite small and I remember that the circular stairway to the "bedroom" downstairs was narrow and rahter difficult to navigate (unless you were a child, LOL).

We loved the large deck area, though, and it was wonderful to see the peacocks display their plummage. We were occasionally treated to this sight if we sat quietly on the deck. I do remember that the mosquitoes owned the deck in the early mornings and in the evenings. I also remember wishing that I could sit out there in the morning with my coffee, but those mosquitoes were without mercy!

Anyway, I just can't see the Tree Houses as part of DVC unless DVC creates a special category - the points would have to be between a 1 bedroom and a 2 bedroom. Also, as Doc posted, they would need major rehab/remodeling. No way are any of them HC accessible or suitable for anyone who has mobility issues!

Just got off the phone with my guide. Current incentives are not yet being spoken about. She also said the end date is 2054 not 2050.

I also asked about a "12 year add on to my current points" and was told that option is not going to be offered.

It was also interesting that my guide discouraged a small addon (vs. no add on at all). She stated that I would not be happy the last 12 years with so few points.

InstImpres,

Your guide discouraged you from doing an add on there?

What point range were you looking at?

I think we are going to add on at SSR 100-150 pt range.

Do you know why your guide would discourage a sale? Did you add on somewhere else?

floridafam -

Yes I had an add on in progress somewhere else. Long story but she has to rewrite my BWV add on (150points) due to a name change issue. I thought maybe I would decrease that to 100 or 115 and add on in the 50-70 point range.

I think she knows if I wait and don't do it at the same time I will end up adding more:p She has been up front with me in the past and I asked her to call me before SSR goes up in price or if there is some great incentive that will dissappear. I guess she actually saved me a year's dues;)
