I haven't been to these boards for a while so I don't know if anyone has asked this yet or not.

With the new exp. date at SSR versus the other resorts, will there be any charges for exchanging points from another DVC resort to stay at SSR?

I'm sure it will be seamless until about 2039, after that no more trades to current DVC resorts.

This may seem too simple, but would it really cost DVC/DVD a fortune to just extend all contracts to the 2054 year?? Couldn't they just make a blanket amendment to our contracts stating this?

I think I read somewhere, may have been here, that in order to extend the contracts, all members would have to agree to the extension. Plus they would all have to agree to a price for this as set by Disney. There is no way that Disney will just 'give' members another 10+ years on their contracts for free. Many members have already stated that they have no interest in extending their contracts so I doubt this will ever happen. Unless Disney offers the extention for $1.00.. This is Disney we are talking about here, so that will probably never happen.

Legally this wouldn't be necessary, I think the issue was for it to be financially workable most all members would need to agree to continue. After thinking about it though, I'm not sure this is true. Assuming the resorts are still viable and appropriate and there is enough demand to keep them open, DVC/WDW could run them like they do a resort that is selling. They would just have a mix of points and cash reservations.

Yes indeed, I agree. I would think DVC would only have to 're-declare' the number of units that it needs to satisfy the extending members. As Dean said, the rest could be operated on a cash basis.

Maistre Gracey, you and Dean are probably correct.. I am sure there are many ways Disney could do this if they wanted to. One thing I am pretty sure of though is that Disney will not extend the contracts an additional 10 years for free... ;)
