New Sorcerer Pass - Does it require a blue member card?

What are you talking about?

Sorcerer Pass - $749 (Photopass Add-on $99 per family it seems) (now includes option to add-on waterparks)
Previous DVC AP - $719.00 (Photopass included)

So we are talking about a $30 price increase and then for Photopass depending on how many in your family possibly a bump in price there divided out.

The only blackout dates on the Sorcerer Pass is going to be 4 days around Thanksgiving and 2 weeks leading up to New Years Eve. The Gold Pass had 11 extra days blacked out (1 day extra at Christmas and 2 weeks at Easter fully with Thanksgiving not being blacked out)
Is Sorcerer Pass 749 for blue card members? The pass website says 899

This is from Scott Gusitn on twitter.

Important update for DVC:

The new APs will not have a DVC discount on the Incredi-pass. Previously, the top-level Platinum Pass had a $200 discount for DVC members.

The new Sorcerer Pass is only available to FL and DVC - but pricing is the same (similar to Gold Pass).

DVC members needing zero blackout dates are getting hit with the biggest sticker shock.

Platinum Pass (DVC price): $899
Incredi-pass: $1299

Increase of 145% -- and that's without the $99 PhotoPass add-on.

That was my reaction - 20% effective increase over Gold with more blackout dates. I am convinced the new CEO sees the Theme parks as pure cash cows to milk.
One photopass per Family, so for 4, $25/day. For people with sticker shock, do you know what they charge for a park hopper ticket now? Did you think they were going to raise prices on tickets and not annual passes? They’re paying people more too and that’s not going to change. The Sorcerers pass is a nice benefit for DVC, saves you $300 assuming you don’t care about Thanksgiving and last two weeks of year which we don’t. Not a steal but I was thinking this pass would be $999 but include photopass still. So to me, it’s $100 less but I only need to add one photo pass so for our four it’s basically $924 plus tax which meant my expectations. The real question is do we need to call member services to purchase😬

I do think it seems a little shortsighted to only offer one option for out of state residents that are not DVC members. Seems like they could have gone $1,099 for out of state for sorcerers just to entice more visits and those people often spend more.

It strikes me as even more shortsighted to get rid of DVC discounts on APs all together, technically. Yes, DVC members still have an “exclusive” pass they have the privilege of purchasing, but there are no longer any DVC discounts on the equivalent of the Platinum and Platinum Plus passes. That’s the loss of a big part of the direct benefits if you ask me.

This is another one where it just depends on your perspective….if you want an AP without a lot of blackouts you’d have to pay $1,199. So you get a $300 discount and give up 4 days in November and the last two weeks of the year. I realize people like going those times, you’d have to pay ME to go then. It’s far too crowded for me. I wonder if it will make DVC booking easier around Thanksgiving and push more people to spring break which is typically less popular than fall for DVC bookings.

We go for NYE, so have bought Platinum.

Am disappointed about add on money for Photo Pass and loss of DVC discount for purchase of the no black out pass. We have recently renewed, so will be checking when we have to buy again.

Certainly if I were buying now, I would likely buy all my contracts resale. The Plat AP discount was one of the big reasons we purchased direct (though more than half of our points are resale).

So for my family it's costing us a lot more. I'm not even factoring that now our soon to be 3 year old will need her own pass. If we just looked at my husband, myself, and our almost 14 year old we currently have a gold pass (for the PhotoPass option) and 2 silver passes. To be able to travel when we currently do we'd be forced to do the Sorcerer pass which means out of the gate its an extra $500 (without the $900+ we have to pay for the new pass for the little one).

We travel on holiday weekends because of....school. Our littlest one turns 3 on Labor Day and her first and 2nd birthday's were spent at Disney. The ONLY way we can ever celebrate her birthday at the parks is to get us all Sorcerer Passes. Oh and let me not forget that we like to travel with extended family on holiday weekends too. Last year and this year we travel the weekend before Thanksgiving with extended family in a 2 bedroom. The only way we can do that trip is again with a Sorcerer Pass. They've NEVER blacked out Thanksgiving let alone Thanksgiving week so GRRRRRRR.

While it SUCKS big time I feel like Disney knows our hands are tied....especially those of us that are DVC owners. Sure we can do resort only stays but let's face it we bought into DVC to also go to the parks. I can't help but wonder about those families that make Disney a once every 2 year trip because they actually have to save up for it. Granted they don't usually buy passes but with the Genie + and all of the other things that Disney is increasing the price of it's pricing out some of these families. It's not what Walt envisioned at all. While I hope they will realize this was a big mistake I just don't think they will because I think in the end people will pay.

So my understanding is that there is no renewals (this year) since there is no equivalent. So everyone this year will be forced to buy the AP and then next year might get renewal discounts.

Finally, I think the last shoe to drop is going to be day ticket increases. Lets see what happens there because that increase might make these prices look good!

You will still be able to renew at renewal pricing. You just have to select from one of the new passes that you are eligible for.
