Not sure if this has been posted already but we are currently staying at Kidani. Our sofa bed was replaced yesterday. There was a notice in our room that our section was getting new sofas.

Interesting, they aren't that old. My boys have said they (the old ones) are very comfortable.

I'm curious as to why they're being replaced too. They were great the last 2 times we were there... granted that was 18 months ago.

Maybe there was a safety issue with the previous design?

My DGFs and I needed help opening them. When we got help, we were told we weren't the only ones. Maybe the directions are more straightforward? My DF thought it was comfortable, but we left it open for our whole stay.

Oh, oh-this makes me wonder if these are the same design as at Hilton Head. Last time we were there, the sofa bed was very hard to open. The ones at Hilton Head, while comfortable to sleep on, are rather awkward to sit on-you feel like you're about to be launched forward. I hope the Kidani ones aren't like that.

Maint. had to come up and open ours in August. It's like the mechanism just got stuck, would not budge. Once he opened it we had no issues there after opening and closing it back up. Perhaps some are defective.

The ones they had at Kidani were actually fine to sit in even though not that easy to open. Don't know why they are replacing them. The pictures in the OP's post, if they are both the new one, look like the same one they had before. I cannot think of a reason they would be replacing the sofas as a group this soon unless some defect has been determined to exist ... or they are all infested with bed bugs.

We had a real struggle opening our sofa bed at Kidani back in April. It was really tough and required two of us and a fair amount of time. Like others have mentioned, once we got it out, we had no trouble the rest of the stay but that first night was a bit rough!

If many guests have been having problems opening the couches then something is really wrong with them and they should be replaced. Hopefully it's a manufacturer recall and our dues won't go up for that unexpected replacement.

I hear ya, did you see the dues increase!?
Anyway, we've only been at AKV Kidani 2x and had no issues with them once we figured out how to open them. They seem to be a bit trickier (if that's a word!?) than others. I wonder if people are jamming them from not opening them correctly:confused3
