!00% N/S for me.
sounds good to me...of course I have a daughter with athsma so I really do love NS...
!00% N/S for me.
It appears that this is beginning to drift from the original topic - which is the status of smoking optional buildings at OKW.
If anyone wants to discuss global warming, child behavior or noisy neighbors there are already many discussions of these topics on the Community Board and if you can't find one of the existing threads, feel free to start you own there.
And please, please, please make the NS rule apply to the balconies as well! I've never been in a room that's been smoked in, but I've had several stays where we couldn't use the balcony very much. It's particularly bad at AKL where you pay extra for savannah view so you can see the animals and then are driven back inside due to smokers.
I hope the buildings all go Non smoking as well. However I think they will allow smoking on the Balconys. Where else will smokers go?
Hi,
I was trying to book my friends into building #12 at OKW last month. They are smokers. On the OKW coded map it is a smoking optional building. It is now a completely N/S building.
Also, OKW used to have 3 smoking optional buildings. Now they have 1 and a half. Those two buildings are 19 and 41. I can't remember which is the half and which is the entire building.
WebmasterDoc said:I can confirm that are now 1 1/2 buildings at OKW that are "smoking optional".
At this time, building 12 is entirely non-smoking. Building 19 is still entirely "smoking optional" and building 41 is about 1/2 non-smoking. The entire third floor still allows smoking (these are all 2BR villas) and the first and second floors only the left end of each floor still allows smoking (these are made up of one 2BR, one 1BR and one Studio on each floor). All others in building 41 are non-smoking. There are now 4 non-smoking 2BRs, 2 non-smoking 1BRs and 2 non-smoking Studios in building 41. (5-2BRs, 2-1BRs and 2- Studios are still smoking optional.)
These changes are the result of the number of requests for smoking/non-smoking villas at the resort.
I've updated the coded OKW map that I had made to reflect this new information. Hope that this helps everyone!

Actually, smoking on balconies never has been permitted, although some (including occasional CMs) have recommended doing so to avoid confronting the problem. It's not allowed. However I think they will allow smoking on the Balconys.
To locations where smoking IS permitted...and there are lots of places everywhere where it is perfectly legal and permissible.Where else will smokers go?
I am all for the 100% NS. If Disney needs me to become the enforcement officer, I think that I can do the job. My DS4 can be my deputy. Everywhere we go, he yells, "Yuck Smoking!" He will yell it out the window of the Explorer when we are at stoplight and someone is smoking next to us.![]()
First of all, I'm not one of those who believes Disney would ever go completely non-smoking...although I could offer a lot of reasons why they might want to consider doing so.So ...... my question is....... how is Disney going to handle all the owners that are smokers - don't see how they can do it. They're going to have to make some accomodation for their owners that do.
While I'm sure they will offer alternatives, they are not required to do so. And I suspect the alternatives will not be acceptable to everyone just like in the parks. Actually a number of the Marriott timeshares are going all NS and this is being encouraged by MVCI corporate. Grande Ocean will be by March and I think it's Newport Coast that just went (or is about to be) totally NS as well.So ...... my question is....... how is Disney going to handle all the owners that are smokers - don't see how they can do it. They're going to have to make some accomodation for their owners that do.
I also own Mariott's Maui Ocean Club - while Marriott hotels are now 100%non-smoking their timeshares are not at least not the Maui Ocean Club.
It will be interesting to see what happens.
they dont let u smoke Now on the balcony of a n/s room...

Let me first say that I don't smoke nor does anyone in my family. However, when reading the comments below, I wondered where this information came from. My son is bothered by cigarette smoke and if I complain about something, I just want to be accurate. We were at the beach this year on a non smoking floor. The people next door smoked on their balcony. When we complained, the front desk stated the "rooms" on the floor were non smoking. Guest were free to smoke outdoors. Just want to be prepared. Thanks!
