new situation for me --HELP!

My family and I just returned from a 15 day trip to WDW. I can plan well for them because my kids are small without many opinions yet . Today I found out that I get to go back to Orlando for work. A co-worker/friend is going also. We are planning to leave on a Friday night and will have the weekend until the conference starts on Monday. My dilemma is this: The conference is at the Rosen Centre. I would prefer not to stay there and am thinking closer to dtd or the BW would be more fun considering the free weekend. My coworker has never been to WDW, and could care less where we stay. Please help! I am really nervous about choosing lodging for a non-relative who has given me the go ahead to book something. We will have a car, so I don't mind driving to the conference Monday/Tuesday. Does ANYONE have suggestions? I have considered the following: Swan or Dolphin, Cypress Pointe, Moderates (any), Crown Plaza, DTD Hilton. Even with our Nurses rate, the Swan/Dolphin is higher priced than what we are supposed to spend--maybe priceline with our fingers crossed???? AAARGHHH!!

If the S/D aren't a possibilty, I would go with a DTD hotel if you plan to spend most of your there or at the BW. I do like the theming at the moderates, but if your friend doesn't care then that might not be an issue for you.

Well - it's a good problem to have. If the rate at Swan or Dolphin is more than you're suppose to spend the only thing I can think of is you could stay at a moderate OR a downtown disney hotel. I've seen good deals for DTD hotels on these boards. If you go with a moderate, our favorite is Coronado. It's a lovely resort. You're smart to want a Disney resort!
