It's been a couple of weeks since I've been on the boards.....

Has anyone heard anything on the new show that I believe prem"eared" on the 14 day repo cruise?...this is the all new theatrical stage show that replaced Herc.....

Please give details....

There are a couple reviews and some pictures on the Live thread from the repo cruise. They were towards the end of the thread, probably after page 100. They moved up rehersals so that it could be shown on that cruise. It wasn't due until June.

Right now it is only being shown on the Magic, which is 7+ day cruises. I have a feeling it will eventually be on the Wonder for 3 and 4 day cruises replacing Hercules.

However as of right now there has been no announcement as to whether or not Twice Charmed will be shown on the Wonder. So we must wait to know for sure whether or not it will be shown on a 4 day cruise.

Right now it is just on the Magic & Hercules is still on the Wonder. There has not been any news of when that might be changed on the Wonder.

Having seen the new show, I can't imagine that they wouldn't move it the Wonder as soon as reasonable. If not for the next cast rotation, surely for the one following it. I would imagine that there is a lot of work to do building sets and etc., so it may be a few months, but I would bet real money that it will be on the Wonder by the end of the year.

As long as Bumblesquats gets moved aside....everyone will be happy! :rotfl2:

Is that dreadful sounding show still playing? :confused3

We asked if / when the show would go to the Wonder during the media interview session yesterday, and were told that Twice Charmed WILL NOT be going to the Wonder. It's going to be exclusive to the 7-day cruises for now.

The new show is doubtless better than Bumblesquats, but it needs a lot of work. The staging was beautiful -- breathtaking, really -- and the musical numbers were performed well, but the writing was truly awful. The plot is hackneyed, pedestrian and ploddingly politically-correct. The dialog is simultaneously stilted and cliched. I immediately thought of several easy ways it could be improved; hopefully the Disney folks will respond to constructive criticism and do a re-write.

The show we saw (the late one) had serious sound problems; the actors were miked way too high with a significant high-frequency emphasis that made much of the dialog (especially the evil stepsisters) physically painful. I am hoping that the crew gets that under control.

For a premier, it wasn't too bad, but it needs work before it'll be ready to move anywhere else.

Yes, better than Bumblesquats.(what was DCL thinkin there?)
I believe the new show needs work. I know that there were some that saw all three shows, but one was enough for us.
Biggest problems were the script and the technical problems.

just booked 9/1 3 day with just DS and I ....I am really hoping Twice Charmed will be on Wonder by then....any insight? Thoughts?......

I asked DCL when reserving stateroom....they seem to have no clue.....

You know, there is a lot of complaining about the Bumblesquats here, but the responses from the audiences actually on the cruise don't seem to match this. Toward the end of the 14 day cruise when Rachel (cruise director) was "recapping" the entertainment for the cruise, the only things that got more cheering than the Bumblesquats were the 3 Disney production shows and Boys II Men.

The only posts about the show on this board from cruisers who have seen this show have been negative. It would be nice to read about someone else's impression who liked it but the two bumblesquats have been relayed to us on the boards as annoying & irritating.

OK, so here was my impression:
The Bumblesquats show has two main elements:
- A series of acrobatic acts, similar to, but not quite as good as, a Cirque du Soleil show.
- The Bumblesquat "family" looking through the audience and "finding" members of the Bumblesquat family that are here for the "Bumblesquat Family Reunion"

I think most of the negitive reactions are to the couple going through the audience, which I admit boarders on the annoying, but I didn't find it as bad as I expected based on the reports here. However, that part of the show mostly takes place during the time it takes to get the stage set up for the next acrobatic part of the show.

At the end, the Bumblesquat couple brought a couple people on stage and danced with them. The entertainment value of this last part is likely determined by the attitude of the two people that come on stage with them, and for our show (first show, repo cruise), they were both extremely good sports and it was an absolute riot.

Overall, I enjoyed the show and our 2 YO son really liked it. Clearly this isn't something that will be on most cruises, but if it happens to be on your cruise I would give it a try, especially if you are a fan of Cirque-like shows.

And to return this thread to the original topic, here is my impression of Twice Charmed:
We had a few technical (sound specifically) issues during our show (first show), but I actually liked it better than Golden Mickeys, Hercules, or Disney Dreams. I have never been much of a fan of the "Hey, let's act out a shortened version of a movie" type shows that are common at the Disney parks (Beauty and the Beast and Little Mermaid at Disney MGM Studios, for example). Even though Hercules was better in this regard, with some deviation from the movie script, there were still lots of places where lines were just lifted directly from the movie. Golden Mickeys and Disney Dreams tend to be similar to TV series "clip shows" to me. You know, those shows where they don't write much of a script for an episode, they just have some kind of simple plot to tie everything together, like a character on an operating table having "flashbacks" of the last 5 years of the show.

I found it refreshing to see a show that was completely original for a change (even if it was based on a familiar story). While the writing may still need a few tweaks, I don't think it was any worse than any of the other regular shows on board.

Here is the basic plot (I won't include anything that you don't basically learn in the first 10 minutes or so, but I'll include some spoiler space anyway):

Possible Spoiler below...

After the "Happily Ever After" in Cinderella, Cinderella's stepmother's "Evil Fairy Godfather" shows up and offers to turn back the clock so that the stepmother and stepsisters have the opportunity to destroy the other glass slipper, since, it is assumed, that without that, things will end up differently.

It is sort of like an "Alternate Ending" to the Cinderella story.
