Anyone have info on this:

I thought I read a thread a while back that said that a major new show (tieing in with the Walt's 100th birthday celebration) was being prepared to take over the former Superstar Television theatre where Doug used to be? I'm trying to plan an October trip and want to make sure I allot time for it, as what I read sounded pretty good.

Any info greatly appreciated!

Actually, the show area being dedicated to Walt's 100 birthday is basically behind the Voyage of the Little Mermaid. You will enter to the left for the tour, and end in the theatre (that used to be at the end of the original 4 hour studios tour), exiting off to the right of the Voyage of the Little Mermaid.
I haven't heard anything about what they plan to do with the Superstar theatre, I personally hope they bring back the original concept with maybe new old TV shows or movies (Superstar Movies) instead.
You might want to allocate some time to visit all the kiosks that will be in all 4 parks (whether they all will be the same, I don't know). I understand that they will be in the Kodak Pavilion at MK, guess they will be where the old world-key stations were next to customer relations in Epcot, know they will be under the new sorcerers hat at MGM, and I think in the shop to the right after you cross the bridge into AK. There will also be interactive pins that will glow when you give the right answer to Disney history questions at the kiosks, and when other Disney events happen (parades go by).
Then there will be the 4 new parades (well really only 3, the Epcot Tapestry of Dreams will be updated a bit with some new puppets and floats and theme)

A CM had told me in May that the area that used to be "Doug Live" was being turned into a character Meet and Greet area.

Washington Square is already a major meet and greet area with up to 10 characters coming out at one time...I doubt they will add another Meet and Greet area..

Actually the exit area for Doug Live! is currently being used for the characters that used to appear in the area where the sorcerer's hat is now going in. Characters like Gideon and the fox from pinochio, clopin, and others. The theater still has all of the doug live set pieces and is being used for special events such as dance and jump rope competitions. The Washington square character greet usually only occurs once a day around 530 as the last set of the day.

The show will be called 'Century of Dreams' and is (as far as I know) currently in rehearsals. 'Walt Disney: One Man's Dream' will indeed be in the Lights Camera Action Theatre, but it is not a live show, more like a mini-interactive museum (presented by Hallmark).

I haven't heard much about CoD for a few months, so it may well have been cancelled or put off... but I haven't heard that either. (I'm keeping my fingers crossed, though.)
MK will have a new show at the Castle Forecourt Stage that will be ALL CHARACTERS (no Kids of the Kingdom, as far as I know), and there's a tentative plan to flood MK with characters. They've been doing 'Pop-ups' lately as sort of a test, where groups of characters move around the park at random, walk through lands and ride rides. Mostly it's been the standards, but there was a pop up on the riverboat last week that included Darkwing Duck, Launchpad McQuack, and a couple of others you don't see too often. I'm told that the plan is to have characters out in the park that haven't seen the light of day in years along with the ones everyone expects to see. There are no schedules for when or where the characters will pop up on any given day, so it's always a surprise.

I recall something from Toonfinder concerning the 45th celebration about having a LOT of characters out to M+G. I would be delighted to see more characters just "show up". Its more fun to see a random character than knowing where they are.

Speaking of DL, don't you think they have more characters out than MK? I know its next to another park and WDW has four, but when I visited back in June, they had tons of them.

We were part of a "Pop-Up". Right infront of my friends on Splash Mountain was Brear Bear, Liverlips, and one of the CM's who watch over the characters. We even saw their picture on the TV screen. I would love to see some characters ride HM, Space, and Buzz.

With only a few exceptions*, as far as the Fab 5 go, if you haven't seen them on a ride at MK, it's just coincidence. Every attraction at MK has had at least one pop-up since they started a couple of months ago.

* Goofy can't ride the Liberty Belle Riverboat because his hat hits the ceilings on the lower decks.

It seemed like that used to happen, although not nearly as much as being described, when I was a kid. I can remember walking around and all of a sudden, "Look Dad it's Pluto!."

Lately, when I've gone, there seems to be "placement" rather than "Pop-up." Like the Robin Hood characters behind Dumbo, Tweedle Dee next to Alice, Donald in the Mexican Pavilian, etc. If you wait long enough, they will come. I like that, too, since if you are looking for a character, you can find them in their themed element.

But it would be cool to ride Splash with Brother Bear! We rode Dumbo this Mardi Gras right behind Mickey, but that was because we opened up Fantasyland with him.
