New SDMT Commercial

There is a thread about this on the community board with a lot of people myself included asking what the heck is Disney doing?

Not very exciting and doing nothing to entice the age group they don't already have sewn up. All it does is confirm it is a park for little kids. (plus IMO it is just dumb!)

They need to fire their advertising people and hire away a few of Universals!

Cute! I'm guessing they are going toward MSUSA because they have already ridden the ride and are done for the day??

I don't hate it....... but for some reason I don't like it . It sure doesn't make me want to book a trip just to see it. I liked the first one better- that one was good.......and that's the one that Disney should be using for the commercials. I'm not feeling this one......maybe it's not meant for me. I don't know who they can be trying to reach with this!!!!!! :confused3

All it does is confirm it is a park for little kids.

They have a boy lowering his sunglasses to check out a girl who is walking by. That isn't very 'little kiddy'.

Disney is clearly advertising for families. A Disney vacation, or a return vacation, isn't a given- there are just too many choices out there. Disney has to keep advertising for their core as much, or people go once and move on, or don't go at all and do something else.

I didn't much care for the commercial and it is weird the family is not headed TO the ride...but I loves me some dwarfs in shades!

How? I don't read that into the commercial at all. They are promoting an attraction that has a height requirement with a family that includes an obvious teenager. Even the youngest is not all that "young".

It's marketing to families...

to me, the commercial isn't very good. i am sure they did test groups with their target market but it looks like some terrible 80's or early 90's production but in HD. though, I am probably not their intended market. looks like it may be directed at attracting first timers to disney. that's probably why they don't care which way the family is traveling from the castle because most people watching don't know any better.

Egad. That gave me the kind of chills David Cross spoke of on Arrested Development.

The viewpoint is intended. They obviously wanted to get as much of Fantasyland in their commercial as possible, as opposed to a view of a crowded Main Street that has nothing to do with SDMT.

I agree with a PP, it really does have an 80's-90's vibe to it. I am a Disney commercial softie, if I am in the right mood I will cry! This one does nothing for me. :confused3

To be honest it doesn't make me want to go on 7DMT at all, and I am super excited to try it!

Looks like they're trying to convince middle aged suburban parents that WDW is so kewl.

I like it. I think it's funny. It reminds me the Swagger Wagon commercials for those minivans.

I was there when they were filming it. I saw the main family featured in the commercial walking by the ride over and over. There was quite a few others there as well, which I'm surprised they didn't include in the commercial. All the filming I saw was on the bridge next to the ride

As the OP of the SDMT commerical post on the Community board they were referring to, I appreciate your input on the commercial and the comments people have made on both sides of the fence. I personally didn't like the commercial, but it's just not my style. Things got pretty ugly with my post. I'm not really sure what happened. I wish some more of the people that didn't like it on yours would have commented on mine. I was extremely outnumbered. haha
