My girls saw pictures for AKL and fell in love with it!! So now I am thinking of going completely against my thoughts and doing a split stay with CR TPV/garden wing depending on discounts and AKV and renting points.

We love MK and will do our first day there and MNSSHP as well so could do that while at CR...my only concern is how far AKV is from other parks?!?

From what I have read on here people LOVE AKV though so it might be worth it and renting a one bedroom villa sounds nice!

as much as I want to go back to the poly I don't want to if it is under construction when we go.

what does everyone think about this? crazy idea???

We love AKL and have rented points for both Jambo and Kidani. Yes, you have to take a bus to all the parks but truthfully, that has never bothered us at all. Our kiddos see taking a bus as just part of a Disney trip. If you do a split stay, maybe do CR for your MK and Epcot days, and then move over to AKV for a resort day, AK, and DHS? If you do a 1 bedroom at Kidani, you will have 2 bathrooms, which is awesome! The pools at both Jambo and Kidani are great and to me, it really feels like being in another world.

We've never stayed in the villas, but have stayed at AKL and loved it. We didn't think the buses were bad at all as we didn't find it to take more than about 5 extra minutes to get to the parks compared to other resorts. Since the buses only go to Kidani and AKL, there's no sharing with any other resort(s). Seeing the animals roam the savanna is pretty cool and I think your kids would really enjoy it. Good luck.

Thanks! I am thinking it looks super nice and my girls would like it...they loved seeing the castle from the pool at the poly though and I am wondering if they will like being that far away from the castle?!? sounds crazy I know.

do you rent through the boards here or with a broker??

AKV is great, we had a lovely stay there last October. If you're worried about transportation, why not rent a car for the AKV part of your stay? Trust me, when the girls get a load of all the activities and animals at AKV, they won't miss the castle at all.

is it easy to rent a car onsite halfway through a stay??

AKL was my favorite resort, with the Poly a close second. My DGD told me she wanted to live there!

I know some folks do not like the bus rides, but they never seemed bad to me.

We have almost always rented through a private DVC owner through the boards. We did use David's once on a last minute trip and had good service there. We just prefer to save as much money as we can.

I love AKL - nothing quite like it IMO - good dining - unique ambiance - great pool. Staying at AKL feels like another world to me - when I go I like to just stay at the resort and enjoy - a holiday unto itself.
