NEW RUMOR!!!! Kinda strange.

I'm not even going to bother making sense of all this nonsense. If you people want to live in a world where Darkbeer, Al Klutz, and others continually paint a false picture that DCA isn't improving at all, then be my guest.

Fact of the matter is, the general public sees things differently and more and more people are starting to come to the park. I don't even need "official" attendance figures to prove that. I know that simply from comparing the crowds of today to the crowds of DCA's early years.

Oh, and the "official attendance numbers" comment? I said there weren't any official attendance numbers. That in no way means there aren't unofficial attendance numbers. Also, TDA posted that BOTH DISNEYLAND AND CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE posted record attendance during the 50th. Thanks for neglecting to reference DCA, once again.

Another thing....how can you claim that DCA's improvement is solely based on the 2fers?? Is seeing a sign that says "DCA and DL closed!" any indication at all? This was displayed around the resort multiple times within the last couple months.

Go ahead and hate DCA all you want, but because you hate it doesn't mean the park is doing bad.

Goodbye and good riddance.

DCA has never closed due to attenedance, not once ever.

Show me a picture of the sign, or an article.

You are right.

It’s not because I hate DCA that it’s not doing well, it’s because the vast majority of Southern Californians hate DCA – that’s the reason the park is a disaster.

No other business on earth could have opened in a more favorable location. Half of century of built in customer loyalty! I and millions of other Californians grew-up with our annual trip to Disneyland. It’s a birthright around here, one of the reasons we count ourselves blessed to live in the region. Decades of watching other places in the world get parks. Now finally, something new, unique just for us!!

It took a tremendous effort by a lot of ill-meaning people to produce a place as rancid as California Adventure. They knew they were making a place beneath contempt, they knew they were trashing everything the public had come to expect from Disney.

But greed overwhelmed any sense of pride or professionalism they had. All they saw were the dollars being ripped from the wallets of people they considered their inferiors – they treated us like the victims of a giant con game.

Sorry it disappoints you, but the public didn’t turn out to be as stupid as Disney’s marketing expected them to be. Slapping the Disney name on garbage doesn’t make it “magic”, it just makes it garbage with a higher price tag.

Until Disney wants again wants to build real theme parks, it doesn’t matter if the plans are for Texas or Virginia or Illinois or Singapore or Mars – they are all doomed to failure. The secret of a Disney park can not be found in a balance sheet or a PowerPoint presentation.

So we try to offer evidence to support positions and you counter with I don't need evidence, I know what I know.

I can see why you are leaving.

I doubt they were ill-meaning, or knew they were trashing it, I think rather that they were just plain dumb.

Uh, I'm pretty sure some of them were ill-meaning. Though maybe not specifically ill-meaning at the drawing board.

From the beginning they treated the development of the park as a con job on the "brand monkeys". They intentionally reduced the scope and the quality of the park because they 'knew' you people would pay more money just because it had the Disney "brand" on it.

In fact, the entire park was designed around two groups of people - the hip crowd that would enjoy the "irony" of a theme park themed as a theme park while enjoying their tofu Thai chicken pizza and wine tasting (and couldn't stomach the idea of going to sad, sorry, old Disneyland) - and the ignorant, fat, cousin-marrying red state tourist hicks that wouldn’t get the irony.

Intentionally disrespecting your customers to squeeze more money out of them (and thinking they're stupid because it's so easy to do) is ill-meaning to me.

I Heard From An Investor In Celina That Disney Bought 15,000 Acres And Already Have The Water Rights To The Land.

Where the heck is Frisco Texas?

It's a suburb of Dallas-I've been there many many many times. It's home to FC Dallas-a MLS football club, who has also hosted the MLS Cup a few times. There is also the Frisco Roughriders-a minor league baseball team. Frisco was once the fastest growing city in Texas at one point in time. It would be a great location for a theme park.

Youch AV, why don't you tell us what you really think?

That said, I LOVE Disneyland, I can't stand DCA. I spent more in Disneyland while growing up than I did in High School. (Ok, so maybe I'm a cousin marryin' red state tourist now, without the cousin marryin' part...) But it was so obvious that they had no desire to create a soul in DCA. It was as if they found plastic people to think this out. It speaks nothing of Walt, or of Magic or of that innovation Disney should represent. It was a sad day...

I came in on this late...but really, people will love it and people will hate it. The only thing I find sad is if those people actually spend money there it's as if they are allowing this kind of thing to go on...even encouraging it.

It's just so wrong.

Anyway...back to Texas!

:headache: Wow. You guys are harsh.

This is the first time I have visited this board, spending most of my time on the wedding boards. Where people are HAPPY! And OPTIMISTIC!!!

My entire family loves going to DCA after hitting DL in the morning, and getting AWAY from all of the pushing and shoving and crowds. DCa is a more relaxed atmosphere, and reminds us of the element of tranquility we can enjoy at Epcot. (all the while knowing they would like increased vistors at both parks and dreading the day it for sure will happen)

Maybe what they were going for was a DIFFERENT experience, albeit an enjoyable one.

Different is not bad. Just different. Intolerance and judgementalism is another story. ;)
