New "RULES" for Cruiseline Brides!!

We didn't get any photos done in any strange areas..but I have seen people standing between the stacks..that was a BIG climb and I didn't want to get up there and get dirty if I fell!! Haha..Maybe someone fell?

This was one of my favorites shots. But you are right, it was a BIG climb (notice the bare feet)...

That is a great shot!

I don't know what's going on with Brianna. I have emailed her a couple of times over a 3 week period and have heard nothing from her. At least Cathy responded in a pretty timely fashion. I wonder if all of these changes have something to do with it.

I know that a cruise wedding is supposed to be low key and relaxing, but how can they take away the few options we have left? I think Disney is not being smart at the moment.

I just e-mailed Brianna about the changes with the cakes, and inquired about bringing ribbon to include with the cake. Will let you know what she says.

Cheers

 Me too! I've actually got a long list of questions for her!

I found out from a girl I work with (who makes wedding cakes) that fondant comes allready COLORED!!!! And she was talking about what she has seen at Wal Mart, basic colors mind you....Blue, Red, Yellow, green and white. So now I am wondering even MORE what is the big deal with wanting a Blue cake instead of a White one??????

I was going to say that maybe they switched suppliers and can only get white - but I am pretty sure that all of their food comes from WDW and if they have the fondant at the GF I don't see what the difference would be.

Could it be that fondant goes bad after a while and they only want to stock exactly what they know they will use?

It may come already colored, but for the cakes I have seen, like Betsy's, they added food coloring to make it those colors. So in order to change from white they either have to start ordering all these different colors or custom make them. Not that I am defending them, but that could have something to do with it.

I'm still waiting to hear about my cake. Bri said she would e-mail me as soon as she heard anything from the chef. Maybe it's different because I am going to be on the Magic? Who knows. The flower thing really has me puzzled. It's not like the color issue where we all are requesting it, that's something that they actually offer. Weird.

I think I will send her an e-mail this weekend because I need to ask about my flowers, or lack thereof, so maybe she will mention the cake when she gets back to me about that.

My fondant was white but they look like they rolled in some green to make it look marbled..I still think it has something to do with shades and people not being happy with the color.

The food does not all come from Disney because my sister's friend is a Nestle food broker ( he cruises free on DCL to "maintain" his account..tough job!!) and they use Cocoa Beach suppliers along with some WDW contracted vendors

As promised...here is the reply from Brianna...

The ship has asked that no requests be made regarding changing the decor or color of the cake. The Chef's that create the wedding cakes also provide the pastries/desserts for all other events and dining's that occur onboard. They follow a strict schedule, and to change a design that they are familiar with, may take more production time; This could possibly have a negative effect on the end result of the cake (as we would not want them to rush through creating your cake). This change has occurred to ensure that you, the guest, receives the best quality possible.

There has recently been some discussions, as you have seen online, regarding fresh floral on the cake. After discussions with the cruise line, we will be allowing the flower cake topper that is included in the 2009 Planning Kit to still be ordered. This is a flower arrangement that will match your bouquet and sit on the top of the cake.

Unfortunately at this time, we are not able to add any other decor to the cakes.

On a side note, we have just received approval to offer the new cake design attached
.

Seems odd to me, I'm requesting a more simple version of the cake, without the floral detail, just smooth fondant and 2 satin ribbons at the base of each layer...they cant' accomodate that...strange...

I am not able to open the attachment from home (reading from my work e-mail, so when I get back to work on Monday I'll post a picture of the new contemporary cake Brianna mentioned.

well..at least the fresh floral is still available..That didn't make sense to me since it came from Disney...I did see someone on another board want to bring their own flowers in and decorate the cake..I knew that wasn't going to happen..

I still wish I had opened my eyes and seen the floral topper..I would have left the cake white and had the green flowers from my bouquet on there...oh well...something to remember for our 10th Anniversary VR!

this is the new cake option.

i can the same reply from Brie. So i'll still get the fresh floral topper and this. maybe i'll make my own pink roses and bring them!

That cracks me up because minus the flowers that is exactly what I asked for! Hmmm now if only they wouldn't put the flowers on it, I'd be a happy camper.

i've always hated white leaves on a cake! :headache:

Thanks for posting Brie's reply.

Has anyone ever thought of just asking them to bake the cake plain and decorating it yourself?

:rotfl: i'm brining enought stuff already....i don't need to bring decorating supplies. Plus....i seriously doubt they would allow us in the kitchen.

If we do a castle wedding then we are planning to do the cake onboard. Whereas if we do the cruise wedding we aren't doing the cake onboard. But anyhoo as confusing as it sounds this is my game plan.

If we do the castle wedding we are going to try to get a plain two tier nothing but buttercream cake from the onboard bakery. I am going to bring a castle cake topper with me and just plop it on. We mentioned this plan to our consultant and he didn't say anything negative about it. Part of me fears that they may not let us get a plain cake onboard if we aren't doing an official cruise wedding. If thats the case then I don't have a back up yet. I doubt that we could bring a cake from the GF with us.

That is the exact cake I'd like, just let me add ribbon...perhaps I'll bring some anyway and hope for the best...

I like that cake better than mine!! I like very plain stuff and while I loved my cake and color..it was a bit froo froo and busy..I would have loved that cake with just the flower topper that matched my bouquet...

I think they are looking for "cookie cutter" simplicity..the rotation is staff probably doesn't allow for people to wing it with the cake...I don't think you could decorate the cake yourself..our cake was not in Palo when I went there at about 3 or 4 and when we got there at 6pm, they took the pictures then took the cake to the back because the waitress told me it was starting to melt..I didn't know buttercream was so easy to melt..

I am sure I was getting dressed when they set up my cake..unless you had someone who would decorate it for you right before you walked out

I really do like that cake, and I'm going with the Mickey and Minnie cake topper...as much as I love fresh flowers, I'd really like to have the keepsake topper...maybe I'll wire some good quality silk flowers together so DF's Aunt can sneak in and stick them on the side of the cake, or something like that before the ceremony starts
