I just got off the phone with my daughter and she got an email while talking to me from Brianna (sp). And it said that the pastry chef on the Cruiseline has now said that under NO Circumstance will there be ANY COLOR added to any Wedding cake!!!! Also that there maybe some restrictions added to where you are able to take pictures as well....Like maybe no more up by the stacks???? She isn't sure about all of that. I guess that Brianna was looking for pictures they had of others so DD could get an idea of what to tell her photographer and to possibly make a list, I am not sure but this is a bit of info she ws given it has to do with safety and so on. She said that only certain people who work on the cruise are allowed in certain areas.....seems they are cracking down a bit on things maybe even some of their photographers pushed the limit with things???? I don't know.

DD was sending an email asking if there was no color allowed if she could then have PLAIN FONDENT for her cake NO SCROLL WORK AT ALL she just wants it smooth. OHHHHH and NO FRESH FLOWERS on the cakes as well.

Something about regulations???? Has anyone else gotten this information?? I can see if she can forward the e-mail and get more specifics but she was at work so it was a quick call. Just wanted to let you all know.

Brie told me that I hadn't recieved the email confirmation package because there was going to be a new one for 2010 with some changes. I think that was about 3 weeks ago and I can't quite remember but I thought she said something about the new one being ready in 6 weeks? maybe?

Thanks for the post- I am curious as to what other changes (if any) they are making.

If they are changes for 2010 then do it in 2010...not 2009!! I dunno it just seems a bit strange to change the rules after you have been told that something will not be a problem then all of a sudden it is an issue.....color on the cake doesn't seem like that big a thing, but guess you never know. we will see what everyone else hears and go from there......

That's weird about the no color on the cake--wonder what's behind them putting a rule like that in place :confused3. I agree that they should honor the request if they already told her it was okay. Doesn't seem fare to change mid-stream. Hope it all gets sorted out okay:goodvibes.

I agree its not fair of them to go back on something that they had already approved. Hopefully they have a good reason for it.

With less than three months to go, I haven't heard much from Brianna - I guess after I send back my paperwork (with floral, cake and other request) she'll get back to me...I'm not looking for anything outside the DCL package, so I hope I won't have any issues...

The only thing I can think of is people complained about the color not being right..we asked for pale green accent and they did it..I didn't care the shade of green but I can see someone asking for pink and getting dark instead of light..

No fresh flowers is a mystery too...unless the chef's were having a problem with storing the flowers so that they stayed fresh.

Just occurred to me too..The pastry chef on the Wonder is different than the pastry chef on the Magic..same with the Palo manager..Maybe this is one pastry chef's choice?

And when he is off rotation, will that matter?

Now I am eager to see the new DCL packet..are they changing Escape packages too since the cruise wedding is the same as an Escape

I am eager to see what all they will change that they have allready said DD can do. I am really waiting to see if they will let her have a smooth fondant cake with nothing else on it but the cake top! That being said do you think they would allow her to bring blue ribbon to wrap around the cake like you see many doing now just to add a bit of color to it???

I have no idea. I am just glad she is pretty laid back about it. I can understand limiting what you can and cannot do on the cruise with space limits and so on, but I really cannot see what the big issue is with small things like color on a cake. Now I am not a pastry chef so I do have a question....do they use pre made fondant and if so does it come allready colored???? If that is the case then it shouldn't be an issue at all but I dunno how that stuff is done. It's not like they are doing more than what 2 weddings a cruise?????

As far as flowers, if they cannot keep a few fresh for a cake should we be worried about the floral for the wedding as well??? And she was told she could have an outside florist, and I have contacted one to make her bouquet, now I am wondering if I can find out if this has changed as well. I would hate to pay for something they will not keep fresh for her in a cooler on the ship for the wedding.

I dunno just think they are changing rules midway here the contracts are signed and they are PAID IN FULL for this trip and now they wanna change?? Like someone else said they have a new packet comming out for 2010, shouldn't they keep things the same for the 2009 brides??

this is crap! My planning packet from 7 months ago states that i can have fresh floral topper for my cake! They can't change it after i have already booked! So no flowers and no color on your wedding cake!??! Just plain white on white?!?! WOO HOO Way to be creative and special DCL! :headache:

I heard from Brie today on another issue, but she didn't say a word to me about these changes. We'll wait and see......

If you use outside floral, they won't do anything with it..I had to make the Palo table pieces and run them down to Palo myself a few hours before the wedding..

The flowers are stored in the cooler on Deck 1, but I was thinking maybe if the cake topper was sent to the kitchen, the kitchen people aren't being careful?? I can't understand that one..$50 for a cake topper is crazy..but I wish I had seen it on my packet..I would have done it (I don't READ!!)

We didn't get any photos done in any strange areas..but I have seen people standing between the stacks..that was a BIG climb and I didn't want to get up there and get dirty if I fell!! Haha..Maybe someone fell?

Like I said DD got it in an email today. And she had it all ok'd before Bri took over. They also told her she could have the cake moved inside someplace because her fiancees mom will have just finished Chemo before the trip and she cannot be in the sun for too long.....hope they don't change that as well.

I had Pink Flowers on my cake no problem.....soooo weird! Maybe it will change again. I think it all depends. Also try to talk to the pastry chef when you get onboard, Maybe they can do something then!

DD isn't doing any centerpieces it is just her bouquet I would be worried about. She really wanted blue hydrengas for her flowers and Disney didn't offer them so I found a florist I am starting to think I should tell DD and have her ask about this before I order them!

It's lisa fault!! She was rolling round in the sand with the photographer!!

It's all Betsy's fault! not only did she get COLOR on her cake, it was in the WRONG location and she took her FLOWERS off the ship! She's the rule breaker! :lmao:

seriously though, if these changes are for real, it's just crap! :headache:

Mom.. Be cafeful of hydrangeas.. Ours were very delicate and I would worry about a bridal bouqet with them
You are going with perfect gift??

It didn't hurt that the palo manager knew us from all our other cruises!!
