New rope drop procedure at MK

On our last trip we went in November. I'm fairly certain we got to MK for morning EMH. And we couldn't get to any other area but Main Street. All the lands we roped off with cast members guarding the entrance. We wanted to get in line early for meeting the fairies. We were really disappointed. There was a huge crowd and we ended up having an hour wait. Can any one explain what we did wrong?

My only guess is that you didn't get there early enough to be close to the rope--The way I understand it, some people will arrive an hour before RD. not me.

I thought EMH meant you could get to the attractions. I expect that maybe all the attractions aren't open especially in slower seasons. So the more I think about it, it is possible that when we were there none of the Adventure land attractions were open during EMH. Which would explain why they wouldn't let us into Adventure land. Has anyone experienced this

That's interesting. We always do morning EMH at MK and have never had a problem accessing any area of the park or the attractions.....although we always go in the summer...not sure of that makes a difference.

Any tips for actually making the rope drop? We stay off-resort. Last year got to the parking lot early (if I remember, the parking lot opens significantly earlier than the park). We went past the ticket area, and into a giant holding pen. Where we waited for a very very long time, and the crowd just kept getting bigger and bigger. Finally, there was a mad rush for the boat or the monorail, though the monorail was a bit slower due to traffic from the on-site resorts. How do we do this better next time?

Take a cab to the contemporary parking lot and walk. With all the expense of the trip, those vacation hours are quite pricey... cab fare is a small price to pay.

You could take the resort monorail, it's a few extra stops but it waaaay less crowded from the TTC than the monorail direct to MK. We always take it and get to the park in 10-15 minutes without waiting in a ridiculous monorail line.

Only Fantasyland and Tomorrowland are open during morning EMH, all year round. You won't be able to access any of the other lands until regular park open.

Learn something new every day!!! This makes me feel do much better.

I've seen and been in multiple rope drops of this same nature several times over the last decade. Not new, just using it again because of crowd demand.
