New Room Key Procedure

(Forgive me if this has been asked, already)

With the new procedures, requiring us to give the names of all guests staying in the room at the time of booking the reservation - thus putting each guest's name on a room key - are they now requiring each guest be present at check-in to get their own key?

We've got 17 people checking in to 4 rooms in May. My DH and I will already be there, so I intended to go to check-in and get all of that done - so that none of them will have to worry with it. (I've got my name on each reservation.)

Will they allow me to do that, with the new procedures? Surely they would prefer one person in line versus 17, right?

No, each person does not need to be present. Last month I stayed at VWL, one of our party did not arrive until 2 days later. She was able to get her key from the front desk when she arrived.

But you're saying that "she" had to get the key from the front desk - you couldn't get it for her?

That's what I'm concerned about...

We were at OKW last week just my DH and I sun to wed then my DS joined us I got his key at check in no problem and then just put it in the safe till he got there

There seems to be a lag between the reservation system and check in system anyway. I had already given all our names (twice) to MS and then upon check in, had to give those names again to the check in CM (ours were in the system, but not our guest).

I think they are working towards a system where its much quicker to check in now that everyone in your party has to have a room key to prove they are staying onsite if you do the EMH stuff.

Only one person from your party (one of the DVC members) has to go to check in. They will provide you will all 17 room keys which will each have an individual name on it.

And I'm with you - I always book the room and "then" invite the people!

I made two reservations within the past 3 weeks and I was never asked for the names of the two other people in the unit. Hum . . . not a consistent policy.

Maybe if you have 3 people in their file as your family unit they dont ask? (I am of course not sure what size your family is....just nothing like a little mystery).

I don't think I've ever been asked about the size of our "family unit." The reservations were for four people -- our son and my mother. DH and I are the only ones named in the membership. Maybe they don't ask for names of kids and parents (though I don't remember if I mentioned who the other two guests were)?

I don't have a clue! They keep asking me the name of an unborn child that will be with us for our December ressie and dont seem to know how to handle the fact that I can't give them a name yet.

I could give them my son's latest name for the baby "Captain Jack Sparrow"....Oh I say, you want to name it Jack if its a boy? No mom....Captain Jack Sparrow silly me - what WAS I thinking lolol

She was arriving in the middle of day and had plans to meet us at MGM, so she picked up a key at the desk and dropped off her stuff in the room. I think they did give us a key for her when we checked in but we didn't use it since we were not at the resort when she arrived.

We had 5 people, 5 keys with individual names were issued to one person at check in.

I was at BWV this month. I had 6 people in a 2 bedroom, but I went ahead and added 2 names, relatives in the area that might stop by, and received the extra keys with their names on them. I had no charging privileges put on them and just used as extra keys. I think it would have been helpful to have the names written down on a piece of paper to hand to the clerk as a time saver.

The same thing happened to us. We had already given all the names at least once to MS.
To check in, it was only DH and myself and wee picked up the keys for all 8 in our group. We had to give the names of each other person in our party (including 3 yr old child). We were givin the choice of charging or not charging for each key.

We will be going down in June with a total of 9 people. Currently, the only name on the reservations is mine even though I have a studio and a 2-BR. I am going to type everyone's names on a piece of paper - especially since two of them have the same first and last names. That could be a little confusing. Annmarie

FYI - Make sure you take all the rooms keys with you per person when going to the EMH parks. A couple weeks ago my 7 & 4 year old left their keys in the room, they had been playing with them. We went to the AK late hours they almost didn't give us wristbands cause we only had myself and hubby's room keys. Needless to say I flipped and the guy gave us the bands with a stern reminder for next time. Really, he acted like I was sneaking in someone else's kids for three hours who just also happened to have already got into the gate with their APs. It was kinda ridiculous.
