Is there a new road to get to FW from the turnpike? We usually get off of the turnpike and go I-4 but I thought I read somewhere recently that we could avoid I-4 now.

Can anyone give me details?

Thanks!

The new road is useful only for folks arriving from due north and from the northwest. Once on Florida's Turnpike, look for the Route 429 interchange and take that exit southbound. After 10 miles or so on 429 you will see the Disney/Hartzog exit, take this exit, turn left, and cross under to go right into WDW. You will reach Buena Vista near Blizzard Beach. Take a left at this light to head towards east towards World Drive which takes you to Magic Kingdom, Fort Wilderness, etc.

From all other directions, follow the routes you used to follow.

We took the new tolll road back in May. :cool1:

As was said above, at the Hwy 429 interchange go south (it is referred to as the Western Way, I think). There was one toll booth otherwise it was clear sailing to the Disney exit (no toll). The road comes in by Coronado Spring and Blizzard Beach. Recent notes on this board have also said it might be a speed trap so slow down and obey the speed limit.

It avoids I4 completely and I would highly recommend it. I was pulling a pop-up camper and had few stops, no traffic, and little stress. You might search the internet for the Florida Turnpike website and investigate the Western Way. If you are coming down I-75 and the Turnpike headed to Disney it is a no-brainer.

Thanks, that helps. I checked out the website and looked at their map which makes it very clear.

So, I'm assuming the signs to Fort Wilderness are clear? I'm so used to coming in from I-4 and know that way. The new way seems so much easier.

Any tips on getting to FW from the new road?

Yes, the signs are clear. We took this route this past July, and it was great. Very little traffic. I would do anything to avoid I-4, especially when we are pulling our 5th wheel!!

When you come off the Western Way and go along the access road you come to a "T" with Coronado Springs on your left. You must choose left or right at this traffic light. Take the left and follow the signs to the Magic Kingdom. Go through the MK toll booth (you don't have to pay if you have a ressie at a Resort behind it like FW, WL, CR, PR, or GF). Get right IMMEDIATELY (or better yet, go through the right-most open MK toll booth) because the turn right to FW is not that far past the booths.

Besides the "T" intersection it is pretty well signed so it should not be a problem. Good luck and have a great time. :thumbsup2

I-75 S

Get off at exit 328 (approximately 140 miles from Georgia/Florida State Line, approximately 107 miles from I-10)

Travel on Florida Turnpike to Exit 267A (429S) (approximately 42 miles)

Travel on 429S to Exit 8 (Disney World/Hartzog Rd) (approximately 14 miles)

This road will take you to West Buena Vista Dr near Coronado Springs.

Turn right if going to All-Stars or Animal Kingdom Lodge, turn left if going anywhere else, then follow the Disney signs to your destination.

Tolls on the main Turnpike will be $2.50 for a standard vehicle. (More if pulling a trailer).

Tolls on 429S to Disney World will be just $1.00 as the Disney World Exit doesn't appear to charge a toll.

(I based the mileage on the exit numbers as they coincide with mile markers).
