does anyone have any insight into this? I just read:

  • “Rivers of Light” – Expected to open next spring, “Rivers of Light” will be an innovative experience unlike anything ever seen in a Disney park, combining live performers, floating lanterns, water screens and swirling animal imagery.
Just wondering if anything else out there about it. I'm going spring break and wondering if I should plan for it.

It has been in planning for a very long time.
Nobody knows what it will entail.
We do know that it is designed to be seen from the water's edge and that
its production will not disturb the DAK animals.
No firm start-date.

It's also rumoured that Disney are working with Cirque Du Soleil. So it should be World of Color meets Cirque meets Fantasmic.

It will be around Discovery Island and while it can have some "extras" it'll will more than likely be a walk around that entire area with maybe a "show" like the Electrical Water Parade. Not sure if there will be booms and fireworks since that will disturb the animals.

Oh that looks and sounds so cool! I'm really hoping it'll be up and running by Spring/Easter break time when I'm there. I'm trying to plan already, and the nighttime specs/fireworks are important to me. I want to see them all. I wonder if they'll have FP+ for it like the other three? I would assume so. I'm keeping RoL in the back of my mind as I plan. Looks like a must see.

I'm just excited that they will be finally doing something with that river. Anyone else remember the boat ride that was there when the park first opened? Boring was a nice description of that thing.

It's really bad when eliminating an "attraction" is an improvement over operating it.

You know what concerns me about the construction pictures I see on the various sites is what appears to be a limited amount of seating. Maybe when its all said and done I'll be wrong but it doesn't look like the "amphitheater" can hold a ton of people.

It doesn't look small in person. I haven't been in it but I would guess similar if not larger than fantasmic seating.

I'm just happy there is seating at all. I just got back from Disney and they really aren't trying to hide the construction at AK at all. You can see everything they're building over there.

I think that attraction had the most "that was it?" lines from guests' mouths after than anything in the history of Disney World. We liked watching the boats from around the river and seeing which ones were asleep or about ready to fall asleep. We also wished we could contribute to a fund for the Cast Members would had to take a shift on the thing. We wanted to give back some of their brain cells.

I really don't think that is seating around the "river". I've seen some photos posted and the walls that look like benches are actually too tall to be benches. Now, are they going to add benches to the backs of the walls? Perhaps, but that would severely limit the amount of people they can put in there. You can stuff in a lot more people standing than you can sitting.

Take a look at these recent photos, about the 15th one down.
