New Resort in Cocoa Beach - Info anyone?

Well this place looks so great that I cancelled my room at the Radisson and booked a 1 bedroom studio here for the night before our cruise. I can't wait to stay here. It looks absolutely gorgeous. Now I really can't wait until October!

Thanks Shirley and everyone else that posted about this resort. This is the reason why I love these boards.

Just booked my studio for a two night stay before our cruise. Del was great and averaged the nights (Thanksgiving night and Black Friday) and I got a rate of $115/night. I can't wait! The only thing I requested was a non-smoking room. She told me that the rooms are considered either or (?), but she noted my request to make sure the room is checked out before we check-in. Hopefully this won't be a problem.

Hi there everybody,
I had a call from Kevin Austin who is well I forgot what he does at the Ron Jon resort, but I am assuming that he can make high up decisions - anyhow they called the shop wanting balloons for tomorrow and I thought it was "the" call I was waiting for - apparentley he was never informed that I was waiting for his call - anyhow he called me back and put me on a speaker since he didn't know what I was talking about when I mentioned this discussion board - he did this so his boss could listen as to what I had stopped by there Monday for - he could not believe this thread existed much less so much response in interest - so he has asked me for the web site address so he could check it out - he was surprise that my interest was with the concern of cruisers and that they were treated with the highest respect while here in Brevard County - he was amazed at my answer - that there were no "kickbacks or favors" somewhere - people do do nice things just cause they want to - anyhow when you call the resort just tell them Shirley who has spoke to Kevin was the one who put in a good word for them - it is a pretty place and by the way I did ask or mention they did need a shuttle and more parking to make it more inviting sooooooooo will let you know as I find out - I will be there tomorrow and I will speak with him in person.
Wish me the best
Much love

Shirley...We wish you the best. Thank You so much for doing all you do for us.

I called RCI and added them to my list, in case a unit becomes available in April (Easter Week) but as usual with RCI nothing was available. Although they are quite new, so there wouldn't be any available units yet for trade.

Looked at the bonus weeks also and there were no 2 BR units during Easter week available.

Really looks like a great resort.

Back on Topic

Thanks again Shirley:D for being you.

Thanks so much Shirley for doing all the leg work for us fellow dissers! You rock!::yes::

Thanks Shirley! Looking forward to your info.

If anyone is staying here anytime soon, can you please find out if the hotel offers supervised activities for kids? Price and Hours would be very helpful.

Thanks

Question for Piglet33- how much did they quote you for October? We are sailing on the Mariner of the Seas on the 24 and want either 2 connecting studios or a 1 bedroom. there will be 6 of us. Thanks for the info.

Hi Bev J - I got a rate of $100 for a 1 bedroom studio that sleeps 4. It has a king bed and a queen pull-out sofa bed in the sitting room. I couldn't pass that price up.

Thanks piglet33. Thats a great price, hopefully byOctober they will have some resturants and shopping close by, we will not have a car. Have a great trip, when in Oct. do you go??We are looking forward to seeing the Magic again since we have sailed on her before, even though we will be on the Mariner this trip.

Bev J. - We'll be staying there Oct. 1 before we sail on the Magic on Oct. 2. I can't wait to go. That place looks great. Are you going to stay there?

I feel very very let down by this resort for they did not keep their word on contacting me but in a small way, I felt I was being kinda handled as a kid that wants something and told we will do it, just go sit in a corner until we are ready :( - Now I have gone over and looked at the place - it is beautiful and I love the stuff that they have for children to do - the indoor playground, the indoor play room - the pool areas was breathtaking - the gift shop was Ron Jon stuff, but well supplied with a lot of things tho kinda high price but that is what happens everywhere - there is a lot of traffic coming in and out but there is enough room and lights to take care of that problem - you are right accross from where the Mirage casino ship is and also the Sterling casino Ship - right next door to the jetties that has the beach etc - now the only disadvantage is you are not close to anything - there is several 7-11's, gas station about a mile or so down south of there - you are about maybe 3/4 miles from Grill's - you can not walk for even tho there are sidewalks, it can seem close but it is a bit to walk especially with children - I saw the display of what Ron Jon's will look like when completed, and all I could think of was WOW -
Dave needs to come down and check it all out - he is better than me at this.
Dave come down and lets go to Roberto's again ok
Anyhow everyone stay warm = looks like we are going to get cool weather ------AGAIN
Luv ya all

Thanks for doing the "leg work" Shirley. I have e-mailed them 2X and still no response. The place looks great but I think we are going to stick with the Radisson. They have treated us well in the past, and the savings of $70 by leaving the car there is hard to beat! Since we will only be there for 1 day, the kids will have to make due with the pool at the Radisson:p
I think this place needs to look at the shuttle/parking issue if they want to compeat with the Radisson. Maybe by Oct (our cruise) they will.I also think they need to look at responding to inquiries a bit better.

Mary - I too am disappointed with the fact that they have set my request aside without any attempts to contact me and I have a cell phone number I was given to call them which I have left dozens of messages on and still no return call - I explained in detail that I wasn't doing this for "return favors", but I just don't believe they took me serious about this thread and the folks interested in their new resort - anyhow if they do contact me, I do intend to tell them AGAIN that they need to correspond with those that have tried to contact them with interest -
Anyhow will keep this thread posted if I find anything out.
Much love

Sorry Shirley, they don't know what a great advertising this board does for businesses. Their loss!!

They didn't return my emails either, but being the hyper planner I am, I called them. We're renting a car and dropping it off near the port so parking/shuttle isn't an issue for us. If we would have went with our original plans to drive down, it would have been a biggie for us.

Truthfully though, we probably would have still stayed her since it's on the beach and the pool is fantastic. A must for my youngest DS.

Hi Denise,
Please know that I am not talking bad about this resort for it is pretty and has a lot to offer - I am just disappointed that they have not taken the interest as much as I felt they should have - they could be very busy trying to get it off "the ground" - number of reasons - I just know that if I contacted other hotels such as the Radisson, Doubletree, Hilton, Days Inn, Motel 6 to name a few - they contacted me right away and resolved any questions or problems that needed addressing - anyhow I just left word for Kevin to call me so lets see if he does - will keep everyone posted -
Thanks for everything and lets hope I hear.
As always
Shirley

I emailed them once asking for info and didn't get a response either. Then I called, got the price info and booked our room. This place looked too good for us not to try out. BTW - we're getting a car to drive from MCO so transportation won't be a problem.

Hopefully, they'll respond to people more. I know when I called, they said they've gotten quite a few calls that week. I told her that it's probably because of the boards. She asked which ones, and I told her where and that there's quite a discussion about the place already.

Thanks again Shirley for all you've done.

I don't know if I missed it or not, but is there a resturant on site? We are planning on using a limo service for our transportation needs from the airport since with the number of people and luggage we would have to rent 2 cars to hold it all. It is cheaper and the kids will be thrilled with a strech limo picking them up before and after. We will plan on a van/taxi for the trip to the port for the cruise.
I am going to watch for more info, we can stop at a grocery for soda and snacks on our way in but dinner and breakfast will be wanted by all. Since our cruise is 9 months away I am sure the resort will have all he kinks worked out. We can always order pizza in if there is no resturants close by the time we get there.
