New Reservation system?

Has anyone heard how this will work? It sounds like we will be able to make our ADRs online. Is this right?

The only thing I've heard about the new system is that it will go back to 90 days. I haven't heard about being able to do it online.

Rumor has it that online booking may become available after the upgrade.

magicalkingdoms.com has info on this. It says the end of October, you will be able to do it online with your reservation # and for 180 days out.

I don't know how it's going to work with people that stay off-site, though.

I read it somewhere recently. It just said that soon you would be able to make ADR's online. I forsee crashes unless they utilize much larger servers than they think they need for those busy times like 180 days out from a holiday.

I agree, I think this could be bad and good. I like the idea of making the reservation and changes when ever I can and not sit on the phone 20 minute. But you know how sometimes the Disney Store site will have a ton of problems on days we are trying to utilize sales. That is pretty frustrating.

Anyway, I am excited to see how this will work, and I worry that I can make changes to east this way!

You know what would be cool? Is if you could put in the date that you need and see all avaliability all over the World! That way you would be able to see the times avaliable for your 1st and 2nd choice all at once!

I hope they implement an online system. Not too long ago there was a thread in which we discussed this. I hope this is a first step in reservation standardization on the system side. Resorts, ADRs, Magical Express, tours, and excursions (or what ever you chose to call the things like wishes cruises or parasailing) should all be on systems that can talk to each other. Right now they are not. Remember that they can not add baggage charges to your resort stay because the systems can’t talk to each other. Apparently Disney hasn’t heard of ERP.

I don’t think the issues with the shopping site will necessarily be repeated with a reservation site. While they sit on a common portal they are completely disparate systems. They are not even the same functional unit of the company.

There are plenty of rumors flying around about what the new system will involve. We'll see what happens around October 24th.

If it is an online system, I have a feeling that there are going to be months of adjustment for us as guests to get used to everything. Volume on these boards will probably double with complaints. The moderators might want to set up a separate subforum dealing with nothing but making dining reservations online.
