I am new to renting and will be enjoying not only my first rental agreement but my 1st stay at AKV Kidani next week. Just wanted to check in on what to expect and what is needed at check in. I have the reservation paperwork from my "owner" and my luggage tags etc.... Just wondering when I walk in to the lobby apart from enjoy my surroundings what to expect. :)

You need the paperwork that shows the reservation in your name and picture id. Have a great time!

It will work the same way as a cash rental from Disney. You go to the check-in counter, present your Driver's license of photo ID. They check you in, and if you have the DDP, you pay for it at that time. You may leave a credit card on file for purchases throughout WDW, using your room key as a charge card. Your room may not be ready for occupancy, as DVC resorts are designed to operate at a higher occupancy level overall than the cash resorts. But, it may be ready early...just luck of the draw.

If it isn't ready, you can leave a cell phone number, and an automated system will contact you when it is ready, or you can check-back later.

The basic difference between DVC and a cash rental is when a DDP payment is made, and less housekeeping days.

Thanks folks!

I have had the DP added to our reservation and have a GC to pay for it at check in, I hear its best not to do on line check in for this reason or they will charge the CC. We will be adding charging privalidges for the adults. We are headed to MK for the day whether the room is ready or not:)

If you wish you can still do online check in and not enter a credit card.
