I am renting a studio for 10 nights at the BCV, My 5 yr old & I will be there the whole time, but I have different sets of people joining me at different times.....would I still be able to get the DDP since the people will be different every few days? Can anyone help with any other issues you think may arise....thanks so much!!!

Technically you are supposed to get the DDP for the entire stay for each person. This is one of those catch 22 situations I've posted about before. I'd talk to MS but my guess is they'll just quote the rules and not really deal with your situation. If it were I, I'd list the people there the largest portion of time and use the plan for those in attendance at the time as needed. You should know they will not register the studio for more than 4 people which is the occupancy limit of the studio. Let us know how it works out.

Who do you have listed on the reservation? Because that's what they will do to determine how to charge for DDP. I honestly don't know what they do when there's people coming and going on different days. You might want to start another thread on the Restaurant Board (specifically in the sub-board for DDP) as that's probably your best shot at finding someone that had a similar situation. As you are probably aware, anyone that needs DME transfers, or wants to take advantage of EMH, will need to be listed on the reservation so they get a resort ID.

maybe we should make 3 different reservations, each with the right people on the right days...does that make more sense....do you think the owner can do that? there will only be 4 people at a time and they would need ME ...oh I am confusing myself now!!!

You're not planning on getting keys for all these people, are you? Anyone who gets a key is supposed to be on the Dining Plan if anyone is on the dining plan. And everyone is supposed to be on it for the entire length of stay.

And the plan is not transferrable. Just like tickets.

You'll have to check out then back in again and may have to move rooms. As Deb points out, the plan is not designed to accommodate this situation probably because DVC is an add on to a program that was designed for the hotel side and this type of transient guest situation is not very common outside DVC circles. Disney will not have the answer to your problem, they will simply spew the rules but they will likely not let you list everyone in the unit since this would be beyond the occupancy and they will not give you an answer to this issue specifically. Ultimately you'll have to decide. Yes technically each is supposed to have their own key and it is not transferrable. They simply haven't dealt with your type of situation. Ultimately you'll have to decide whether to skip it, separate out the reservations withe the aggravations included or side step the technicality of rules to a degree but still sticking to the intent and spirit by paying for the length of stay for the number of guests there. I'm a rule follower and even then in your situation, I'd get if for 4 for the 9 days listing the major stock holders and not worry about it. Of course there are other options less honest but I won't go any further.

The other problem you may have is that if any of those dates are sold out DVC will usually not simply break up the reservation into 3 separate ones. It would be a cancellation and rebooking.

My advice is to just skip the Dining Plan for this trip.

FWIW, 10 nights is too long to be on it anyway. You'll be walking around stuffed most of the time - not fun, especially if you are going during warmer weather.

if you buy tickets and get at least 1 AP you can buy the DDE card ( $60) that's good at most restru. and get 20% off food and booze for up to 10 people eating together and on 1 check.:goodvibes

thanks for all of your help....I think we are going to skip it this trip...besides ,we are really not big eaters.......
Paults...thanks for that advice, I never knew about that...good idea!!!!!

I would also skip this. I consider myself to have quite the appetite, but to me the plan sets you up for over indulgence!! You'll pay premium prices down at Disney, but you usually get a decent portion. I wouldn't hesitate to try the burgers at Beaches and Cream or the Buffet at Cape May Cafe while your at BCV.

You do know that DVC members do not get daily housekeeping, right? So you'll either have to wash bed linens between guests yourself or pay for daily housekeeping that day. It's $25 per day requested for a studio.

With a 10 night stay, you will get a full housekeeping service on day 4 (check in is day 1) and a Trash & towel service on day 8. Only the full housekeeping service includes new bed linens. T & T is towel exchange and trash removal only.

Also, to use ME, a person must be on the reservation.

FWIW, I think you need to have a talk with the owner to make sure he/she has everything set up properly for you. You may indeed need several reservations to make up your 10 night stay and you may have to change rooms.

Good luck!
