NEW Rejected Offers Thread

Yeah. I was surprised they didn’t counter in the 130s. That contract has been in the market for over 90 days and started at about 160.

It was actually your recent thread that helped me realize that CCV is where I want to buy šŸ™‚
Aww I’m so happy to hear that. I got mine 1 year ago for 129. It’s even grown in value. So happy I bought it.

Will list 4 offers below for BLT contracts.

Contract Size: 160
Asking: $145
Offer: $120
No counter, just declined

Contract Size: 155
Asking: $139
Offer: $125
(Note: initial offer was $115, increased it to $125 after their $135 counter, but no deal after that)

Contract Size: 100
Asking: $150
Offer: $115
No counter, just declined

Contract Size: 125
Asking: $155
Offer: $120
(Note: I pulled the plug after broker told me they had refused to go below $148 on an offer earlier in the week - so, basically as good as a refused offer)
Your offers are more than reasonable, they're trippin, hang tight!

I feel like there's been a pattern where contracts that have been listed for a while just stay there because they don't really want to sell. The newly listed ones often go quickly. Set up an alert on dvc for less with your parameters and you'll probably get something soon.

Some sellers are simply not in any rush to sell. They just need to wait for a buyer who wants to pay what they want.

I sold a BLT contract at $189 in 2021, having just bought it the year before at $150.

That $189 was way above what people here were paying. Didn’t take that long either.

Same with buyers who want to pay less…they just need to keep trying until they find the one seller whose willing to accept!

I feel the current extra point price ($18 for rental here, 20 for OTUP, 22 for direct buy back) also contributed to the stubbornness. (At the beginning of the year you may frequently find a few $16 rental offers.) They might have factored that in with the loaded points

Yeah, that is interesting and a good thought. I probably need to do some more learning about rental rates through the brokers. From my personal perspective, I wasn't placing as much value on them at the moment because I know the BLT pool will be under refurb from Jan-May 2026, so those points aren't as flexible as I would prefer. But, if I can turn around and rent any extra points I don't want at $18 pp, I suppose that is another factor to think about on how much value I should place on any loaded contracts.

But, if I can turn around and rent any extra points
Yes. At the same time, it will be better to find your right contract.
Renting probably take similar amount of time, if not more, compared to keep searching for deals. Also, there could be tax complications regarding rental income (don’t know about any details, but renters are also in the market so sellers can price it in).

I’d like to use loaded points myself. Timing is also important. Otherwise, SSR could be the only option left. Side note, Oct UY tends to be a little more expensive though I envy an Oct UY now

Been a while since I've shared my rejected offers, here goes (BCV):
Contract Size: 150
Asking: $130
Offer: $115

(Note: initial offer was $110, increased it to $115 after their $120 counter, but no deal after that--I know that we are so close but I actually don't need more than 100 points and was only able to talk myself to committing to an extra $500/year for dues if we got a great price on the contract)

Ohh this will be fun to see who can snag a great deal first.. me at BWV or you at BCV! I may have seen this BCV and contemplated... but I am aiming more for 110 or less also.

The race is on! But given that @AstroBlasters just got a 25 pointer at BWV for less than most sellers at BCV are willing to part with 200 points stripped, I'm betting on you. ;)

CCV
Contract Size: 125
Asking: $141
Offer: $127

Initial offer was rejected, no counter, and said they had another higher offer. Increased to $137/pt and it was accepted. Nudge higher than I would have preferred, but double loaded (2024 banked into 2025 UY) and enables an extra trip next year so figured ah well.
Double points is pretty great!

Congrats! I am always willing to pay MF for extra points (essentially you are offering at most 129 for a regular contract depending on how much you value the extra points)

Yup. But might not be enough for more than one trip (I am already borrow 2026 points and I had a triple point onešŸ˜…

Double points can get you used to extra too. Rock meet hard spot

I really think this is part of why Disney gives you the extra year when you buy direct and is reluctant to give MB in lieu of points, especially on smaller contracts — that first year you get used to more trips or bigger rooms and then you want to come back for more.
