Today Pentax updated their "Essential Holiday System" rebates to add a $50 rebate for the K100D and K110D. Or $100 if you also buy the AF-360FGZ flash at the same time. There are also a slew of lens rebates.

With the current prices at Beach Cameras, that means you can get a K110D with kit lens delivered for $421.89 or a K100D with kit lens for $528.39.

This is, needless to say, a spectacular deal! Anyone considering a DSLR should very seriously consider these deals.

It's also possible that Beach (and others) will raise the prices slightly - they did with the DL when it had a $100 rebate. I got mine for $367 and within a week or two of the rebate coming out, it was $80 or so more.

I'm awful tempted to upgrade to a K100D but I've spent too much lately... :(

One last note: the rebate is for the "body only" but is still good for the kit, because the kit has the "body only" box and the lens box together in a larger box. Just use the UPC from the "body only" box. Pentax is pretty good with their rebates, too, I got my DL rebate and my 50-200mm rebate quite quickly.

Willpower Groucho, willpower!! (don't you hate that word!?!) :teeth:

I can resist anything but temptation... :teeth:

Especially since the wife said "well, I haven't bought you anything fun for Christmas..." :woohoo:

We'll see!

If I do, it does mean that a K10D is not in the future any time soon... sigh! What to do!

Well, I made my decision... I'm going to hang on to the DL for now and plan on picking up a K10D at some point. (Especially after seeing new new brochure! Beautiful!) It won't be out until December, though - apparently Nikon is using all a lot of the same sensors for the D80. I doubt I'll pick one up before some next time year unless I run into some unexpected money!

It looks like I'd probably end up spending $100-130 to upgrade from the DL to the K100D, and since I am more or less set on camera support systems and don't have anything longer than a 200mm (and really am happy with the DL), I just can't justify the price just to get image stabilization and slightly faster autofocus. (Better JPG processing, too, but no difference if you use Raw.) I am going to grab a 50mm 1.4 if they ever come off backorder though!

For a first-time buyer, though, this is a terrific deal. If you want to come in really cheap, you can get a K110D body for $350 and add a lens of your choice.

Me too!! I was kind of hoping to get one before our vacation in a few weeks but it's not looking like that's going to happen.

I'm sure the K10D will be worth the wait. I have a co-worker who's also waiting for it's release. What a great deal though on the K110/K100's with the rebate, I'm trying not to think about it since it's a better deal than I got!! :teeth:

Supposedly Onecall got some 50mm 1.4s recently. I'm on the verge of just backordering it at Adorama (BH isn't even listing it any more, and Amazon says that it's discontinued) but unfortunately I'm in New York so have to pay tax, which is a fair amount. Used 50mm autofocuses go for as much or more than a new one. I too would love to pick one up before the next trip (using a manual 28mm 2.8 on a non-WDW trip a week ago was very handy but focusing is very tricky in low light with such little DoF!)

As for price of the camera - the best thing to do with buying something electronic is to never look at the price its sells for ever again, you'll almost certainly kick yourself. :) Fortunately my DL is an exception, I could still sell it for more than I paid for it. Hopefully the value will stay up there when the K10D comes out, and hopefully Beach'll have it for a really good price again!

K110D now $397 b4 rebate @buydig.com.

$347 after rebate is an amazing deal.

Yes, I was telling the guy who runs the local camera consignment shop and now he wants to pick one up now for taking photos of the equipment.

Hopefully we'll see some new DSLR owners here who are able to take advantage of this offer!
