New Quick Service Dining Plan For 2009

So, basically, I figured an adult CS meal at say $8-10 and a snack at $4, so for me 2 CS meals and 2 snacks would come to about $26-$30 before tax. So basically you are getting the refillable mug for free with the plan?

That is what I'm thinking, so it doesn't seem like a real good deal.

For me it isn't about saving money it is about prepaying for those meals. I will still have some sit down meals, but I just don't like having to make up my mind 6 months in advance where I want to eat. I always end up changing my the ADR'S 3 or 4 times. At first I liked planning our meals now it is just a pain. When we went to WDW in Dec their were day's when we did not want to go to our ADR but we did not want to waist the money we spent on the plan. For me this is just more freedom.:woohoo: Yes we will have to make ADR'S for the popular restauants, but like Kevin has said in his reviews it is not very hard to get a ADR the day of or a few day's before you want to eat at that restaurant.;) I think this plan will be good for people who don't plan every minute of the day. Some people love to know when and where they are going to eat every night. I thought I was one of those people but I found out I wasn't. When I plan for our trip's I plan what park we will go to that day and what rides we really want to ride and that is it.

I also changed the info about the mug you can only fill it at your home resort.
Sorry about the the miss info. I wish it was true.:sad2:

I understand this, but I can also buy Disney dollars or one of the Disney gift cards and basically it's the same thing and I don't have to worry about using credits. I can use the Disney dollars or gift card anywhere for anything, not just food. I had thought the dining plans offered a savings and wasn't just a pre-pay plan, but it sounds like not so much anymore.

Last year I saved money on the Dining Plan w/sitdown, but now you don't have the appetizer and the tip is not includded plus if they take away the fillet you are not saving money. I think they are losing money on the dining w/sitdown so they came up with this plan. If they take away the steak/fillet they may be thinking alot of people will not use the dining plan at all, so they came up with this plan. Disney thinks you can save 20% with the quick service meal plan. I don't think so, they should give you a drink also with the quick service meal or they should let you use the mug. My next trip in 2009 is going to be a solo trip so I think this will be a good time to try it out. But you are correct you could use Disney Dollars or your Gift Card. I can't pay those off over time. When we went in DEC the dining plan was I think $37.00 a day. We had four of us for 7 nights that was $1036.00. We could pay that off over time. If I got a gift card you would have to pay it all at the time of purchase. The dining package in Dec was worth every penny. I am not so sure now. This is just my opinion. Now the free dining plan that is a diffrent story. Free is always GOOD.;)

This new plan tells me one thing. The Free Dining plan that normally rolls out around in APRIL for the dates of end of august and almost all of sept will be the quick service meal plan for free and you can upgrade to the basic, or deluxe plans as you may want but you will not get a table service credit for free anymore. I mean its only about $9 more now, but if they do the same and reconfigure the refillable mug into the price, they might just raise the basic Dining plan about another $4-$5 and it will be at a $42-$43 price point. MARK MY WORDS FOLKS. FREE DINING WILL BECOME FREE COUNTER SERVICE WITH THE OPTION TO UPGRADE TO TABLE SERVICE CREDIT BY PAYING THE DIFFERENCE JUST LIKE THEY DID THIS YEAR WITH THE DELUXE DINING. STILL A VALUE BUT MORE MONEY OUT OF YOUR POCKET.

I never thought of that. I think you hit the nail on the head.

....... If I got a gift card you would have to pay it all at the time of purchase.....

Actually you can purchase a gift card for $5 and keep adding to it.

I think you're absolutely right.

I thought that by posting this info it would be helpful for some people not to argue about weather it was cost affective or not. I also was not lookigng to argue about how to pay for it. Sorry I thought this info would helpful.

You posted something and didn't expect it to be discussed and analyzed? :lmao:

Your information was helpful! And I wouldn't call the discussion arguing at all.
Some see the benefits of the new CS plan, others don't. Some think it'll be worth it, others don't. Just thoughts and opinions, not arguing at all. ;)

I don't mind the Pros and cons don't get me wrong, some people will like it and some won't. I don't know if I will like it.

its a good option for people who don't want to think about eating 180 days out. its almost like you feel obligated to hit a table service spot with a table service credit. Disney has basically now given options for every different family depending on how they want to spend there time. do they want to stay strictly on disney property or do they want to venture off to Universal or Sea World. I mean in my opinion the counter service option is great for the family who will be venturing to different parts of the tourist areas like Universal, Sea World, or they want to try Texas De Brazil or other off site dining establishments. that way when you spend a counter service credit on breakfast at the resort you don't feel guilty.

All I would like disney to do is instead of a free refillable cup I would want them to come out with a Free Stroller Rental along with the 2 counter services. (OOPS I think I might have opened another flood gate for Arguing) or well if not me someone else would have thought of it:wizard: :cool1:

It's as if you guys heard us record the podcast this afternoon. We had a very similar conversation about this new plan - with very similar ideas being discussed.

Scary :scared1:

It is helpful...and I think there will be gobs of people very excited about using the QSDP. I've already posted on a couple of other threads that I feel the dining plans are being touted as more of a convenience than a budget tool. There are thousands of guests that just like the security of paying for as much of the cost upfront as possible -- and it's an even bigger bonus if they can spread it out over several months. I personally applaud the people than can return home without needing to be sedated to open their next credit card statement. :teeth:
