I am looking to purchase this year because we are planning a trip December 2022. BW is my first choice with December use year, but I realize a contract with my criteria may not be readily available. At what time frame should I go with my second choice so I can book at the 11 month window in January?

Give yourself 90 days from offer to being able to book. Maybe a little longer if you're purchasing in October/Nov timeframe because of the holidays.

The UY doesn't impact when you can book. Your points can be expire the day after the trip and you can still book 11 months out.

Your UY is about when the points expire and need to be banked.

Only an estimate with your booking window for that planned trip bring January....pass ROFR by October & close by November should end up having membership and points available by end of December.

I don't like sitting around stressing and it seems like ROFR and waiting for closing, etc is a lot of sitting around stressing regardless of deadline. So, I wouldn't be waiting until the last minute.

If you don't have an accepted offer on BWV Dec UY by July, I'd start considering plan B and C with the goal of an accepted offer before August is over.

Honestly, if Plan B and C are just different UYs (that still work reasonable well) I'd consider them from the beginning. If it's resort choice and you really want BWV, I'd wait it out.

There’s always the costly option D of buying direct from Disney. Quickest way to get your points and UY you desire if they have it. If not I’m sure they’ll quickly buy more ROFR to sell it to you directly. 😅
