Just FYI, according to Mouseplanet.com, you will now be required to have a PS to eat at Goofy's Kitchen, Blue Bayou, and Storyteller's Cafe, no walk in seatings will be allowed. Just in case you are planning on eating at any of these (Blue Bayou is not to be missed!:D ), I didn't want it to ruin your plans!

Wow... I wasn't going to make any reservations for our next trip, thought we might just play it by ear. Then I decided that I'd better at least reserve Storyteller's so that my hubby could have his buffet breakfast. Guess it's a good thing I did.
I suppose if we decide we want to have dinner at Goofy's or Storyteller's, we'll have to call early that day.
We ate at Blue Bayou the last two trips, and have always loved it, but I had decided not to make any lunch reservations. After a big breakfast, we're not usually hungry for lunch, and when I have too many ressies, I find myself checking my watch too often, and not enjoying the fun.
Thanks for the head's up!

I have never done the PS thing, even though we've been to DWorld a few times and DLand a few times. Will it be enough to go the day before and get one? or should I start calling now? As part of our trip, we have a free breakfast at Storytellers but I do NOT want to get there and be turned away.

Cuterlt,
Just to be on the safe side, I'd make a reservation. I made ours for 45 mins before the opening of the park that we will go to each day. At Christmas, DL opens at 8 am and CA opens at 10 am.
If you're staying at the Grand Californian, you can have a nice breakfast, a lot more quickly, at the cafe by the pools.

I have heard this and can not understand why they would risk leaving empty tables if a party does not show up or if they are not booked.

I can understanding saying if they are booked that they will not take walk up's but to say no walk-ups at all is imo silly.

I have made it my personal policy to make PS at any place that we want to eat at. Which this trip is only dessert at Blue Bayou.

I can't understand this policy either, DL is really not a PS place-- we always eat on the run except for Blue Bayou, but we never call ahead to get a reservation. I wonder if this policy will last for very long. Still, I'd go ahead and make a PS ASAP-- if the Fantasmic Balcony seating is any indication, ressies for these restaurants will fill up fast!

What seems odd to me is that without storytellers there is really no sit down breakfast option at all for hotel guests at GC. The cafe had some quick stuff but not what I would think of as "real breakfast". I think that it would be odd for a hotel to require reservations for everyone for breakfast.

According to Mouseplanet.com Storytellers is not included in the new PS schedule. Also it is not that you are required to get a PS to eat there it is that all available time slots are now open for PS's. Before only half of them were. So you may still be able to get a same day or even walk up seating but you may be truned away if all available times are taken.

We made some of Our PS arrangements last night and it seemed too easy. We usually go to WDW and getting ressies can be difficult. We had no problem with any of the times we wanted and this was for the week after Christmas. Was this too easy? We did not receive any confirmation numbers, which we have always received at WDW, don't they give these at DL?

PS's are kind of a new thing at Disneyland. I have only made a handfull of PS's but have never had any trouble getting what I want. I have also never gotten a Confirmation #.

I booked all my PS through vacation planning (around a dozen of them) earlier this year and I asked for, and they provided confirmation numbers for all my PS's (but only after I asked).

We just got back from Disneyland last night, and all of the restaurants were still taking walk-ups. There was a wait for some, depending on the time of day, but even Blue Bayou still took walk-ups.
As far back as I can remember (going as an adult...the last 22 years) you could make advance reservations at least at Goofy's Kitchen....because we have always done this. We never used to get a reservation number, but this last time, we did get them.
