new prices for character meals

:faint: I'm pretty sure I just had a heart attack!

chaaa ching!!!! ouch!!! Thank goodness we opted to go during the low season.

Ouch, we do any where from 2-4 character meals a trip. This year, we're going down the last week of August. We may have to scale back to one character meal this trip.

:goodvibes So glad I bought our character meal tickets before this changed. WHEW!

guess we won't be doing our first Charactor meal next week!! :sad2:

Oh you should still do it! Isn't it just you, your son and your husband! Do it! Don't miss the opportunity! The prices will only get worse over time! (You see this is why I prefer the Goofy's breakfast - much cheaper than the dinner!)

This isn't really anything new, though - the fluctuation in seasonal rates is regular. But I suspect they are catching on to the fact that more and more folks are getting AP's, and using their APs to get discounts (the Premium is 15% off), so they are trying to make up for what they are losing. It's just a bad time to do it in this economy! And it is a little fuzzy as to what they designate as peak and off peak seasons - like October was off peak at one point, and the rates were lower, but now, because it was busy in October last year, will the rates be peak rates?

Is the AAA price for CA residents only? Or can anyone show their card for a discount? Or do you need to buy the AAA ticket price tickets in advance?

Anyone ever use ARES travel? Is it e-tickets? Or real tickets?

I honestly dont think the character meals are worth 30 bucks and up per person! If it is super important you see a character or two it might be....but for the food alone it isn't. You can get a better meal other places...jmo.

(For a good laugh :lmao:, go down to the "This and That" section of the page to see what appears to be the "official" explanation for reduced serving sizes.)

I saw that! Why did people have to go and be "health-conscious guests?"

Because we all know that pasta covered with cheese and cream sauce is so much more healthy than chicken breast.

Hee hee. I thought of that too! Those chicken pieces on the pasta looked SAD. I am sure the 'health-conscious' guests will appreciate having less lean chicken in comparison to the pasta portion size for the same prices.

They had the Goofy's Kitchen Dinner Buffet incorrectly at the "regular" price....we were just there & it was $39.64 for the adult.

But I do have to say......OUCH!!! Hope that's not a trend that's going to stick around!!!!

OMG WOAH! I didnt realize the prices went up that much HOLY! Glad im going through low season...

Has anyone purchased Ariels Princess Lunch through Getawaytoday?

Can you purchase the meal seperately though them or do you have to purchase a trip package and tag it on at the end?

So when exactly is considered "summer season"? MP has the Spring break season days listed, but not summer.

Whew, our PS is 4 days AFTER the spring break prices end.

It will stick around, I think. They will continue to fluctuate with the seasons and then do overall price hikes every couple of years, I think. But it will probably be less clear as to when the peak seasons and off peak seasons are as crowds begin to pour in during the off peak times! Thank goodness for the PAP discount. That 15% helps a lot! This is really bad timing for Disney to be doing this, though, and it may backfire on them.

But I can remember the good ol' days of yore when Goofy's breakfast was $15 (actually, I remember before that when it was about twelve bucks!!!), and the dinner was a downright reasonable $18!!

Storyteller's Café / Chip 'n Dale's Critter Breakfast

Can someone look at those prices on the first link and explain them to me, lol. According to the chart it costs more with AAA and Ares travel.:lmao:

Where is the calculator, never mind. I can buy three cheddarburgers, 3 crisscross fries, and drink water from their cups for under $30 and 4 cheddarburgers with 4 criss cross fries for under $40. I am skipping Ariel's and other restaurants until my birthday or low season.

:cloud9::cloud9::cloud9::cloud9: = :wizard:
I think 4 to 1 is way too much and you do get lovely set down dining but it is still 2 regular dinners in DLR for one with Ariel. She is a sweet fish but not that special a dish.

Huh, we tend to do our character meals in off season anyway but this just helps with that. Yuk!!! And we get a 15% discount because we are Premium APers, currently, who knows what next year will hold. LOL

so as a deluxe AP holder, is it a 10% discount off the listed price?

we are planning to do 3 character meals in early may...and i was just wondering what the discount is as a deluxe AP holder compared to buying vouchers from GAT...

Aloha girl! Long time no chat.

Deluxe is definitely 10%. Not sure the answer to which is cheaper, but I do know the deluxe vs. premium on the discounts. Glad to have my premium, as there only used to be two or three places to get the 15% up until last year..... :thumbsup2
