New Premier Annual Pass

If that's the case I hope they would at the very least let those of us that had been premiere pass holders for years go back to the premiere fior $99.

I think that would tick a great many people off if that's true....

This was the reason why I was waiting on a word for renewal price. I'm glad I didn't jump on this. The valet parking was a nice perk, as was the express pass portion, but not for $279/year. I'm staying away from this pass for now.

Yeah..I'm right there with you Chris. I was going to upgrade in April but I think I'll just keep my PAP. Maybe they'll work on something for down the road. :confused3

so is the consensus being there is no renewal rate for the Premiere Annual Pass?:sad2:

Is the renewal for the Preferred Annual Pass still $99? Is it possible to buy a Power Pass and "renew" + upgrade the 2nd year to the Preferred Pass for $99?:)

The renewal rate for the Premier is the same as buying a new Premier Pass. I suspct it may be because of the extra perks like water, valet parking, golf, express after 4, and the free HHN ticket. I will state this again as I have in other posts: let guest services know of your dissatisfaction. Rather than just not renewing the Premier, let them know why you won't be renewing. The only way changes can be made at any themepark is if they are aware that people are unhappy. Email: guestservices@universalorlando.com or call: 407 224-4233.

The renewal for both a Power pass and a Preferred is $99 plus tax. You can upgrade a Power Pass to a Preferred when you renew for about an extra $30 plus tax. If yu upgrade at any other time (except renewal time) it is around $60 to upgrade.

hey thanks for the reply:thumbsup2

I think I'll get the Preferred Pass. Just wondering if there is usually some deal later in the year that would make it worthwhile for me to wait:wave2:

Just thought I would update, I took Phantom's advice and wrote to Customer Service. I asked when it's time for me to renew if the price is too high, would I be able to revert back to the 2 park preferred pass for the normal $99?

The answer was yes and I have that in writing. I feel much better now :) Aside from the whole Ellen crowd debacle, Universal has yet to let me down. :hippie:

This is great news

So in theory, on your Premier pass expiring, your revert to a preferred pass for $99, and then if you wish you re-upgrade to a premier pass for $99.

The total cost is now $198, and not $279 to renew a Premier pass.

I'd pay $198 to renew it because of the additional perks, but $279 is a bit steep.

It lists on the Universal site that there are benefits in having the pass for prices to stay at the Universal hotels. Does anyone know what these are?

The benefit to having an Annual Pass is you can get the APH rate at the hotels....which, may or may not be better than AAA or other rates you find. APH rates aren't usually available until 3-6 months prior to your date tho.

Thanks for that. No good for me then because I usually book about 15 months in advance with a TA.

You can always book your room, and when the AP rate comes out, IF it's better than the rate you have, just call the hotel and have them switch your rate to the AP rate....they will do that...it's no big deal....EVERYONE does it (including me....I've done it a couple times ;) )

Once again thanks, the amount of useful advice I pick up from our American cousins is invaluable.:)

Probably not if you have booked a package with a UK travel agent.

I usually book my own room, not sure how it works thru a TA...let alone a UK one :confused3 I would assume you could have the TA call and switch the rate...best bet is to ask and discuss this with the TA. Ask the TA what happens if you find a cheaper rate?...can it be switched? Does the TA do, or do/can you? The point I was trying to make is that you ARE able to switch the rate if a cheaper one comes out :thumbsup2

If the room is booked as part of a package (eg with Virgin Holidays as many brits do) then the rate probably cannot be switched.

I use an independant TA (who books direct) or book direct myself - in which case the rate can be switched - as you pointed out :thumbsup2

Yep...we tell most peeps here in the States, that a package is not usually cheaper than booking everything a la carte...you just have to do the math for your dates..... :thumbsup2 ...I'm very unfamiliar with what is going on for the UK people...maybe a package IS cheaper??? I don't know...but either way, the hotel WILL accept your request for a rate change...IF you are able to do it!! Good luck!
