Will be at MGV in a 2br for 6 days in mid September. Anyone have any info about the new pool area? Found a map of the area and trying to figure out where the new pool is and what the best buildings would be to stay at. Our kids are 6 and 2 so we would be interested in where the new kiddie pool is too. Any pictures, information, or advice on the new sections and pool would be appreciated.

We were at MGV in March '04. The new pool area is across a pond/small lake from the main check-in area. It's flanked with buildings that have been recently constructed. Sorry I can't help you with building numbers, but maybe this info will help you identify the buildings on a map.

Enjoy your stay at MGV! It's a beautiful resort!

Coincidentally, my wife and two daughters are sitting by that new pool as we speak. We booked a getaway there for the week ; I live in SW Fla and just drove back home for a few days for work; I'll be rejoining them on Wednesday.

I was at the new pool area yesterday for a few hours; very nice. There's two levels, an upper level that's quieter that sits next to the bar area. Unlike the old pool, where you have to go outside the pool gates to get food, and then to a different area (the lighthouse bar) if you want a mixed drink, it's very convenient at the new pool area. You can literally get out of the water and take two steps to the bar; they have restaurant service too if you're hungry. (The grilled chicken sandwich was a big meager, but my daughter had a burger that was good.)

The upper pool area drains into a lower area that's more for children, with a lot of fountain features and waterfalls, etc.; even three faux cannon turrets with cannons that shoot water. My older daughter just had a great time. There's also at least one hot tub pool area next to it.

What I like about this new pool area is that there are three alcoves that jut out onto the lake, with deck chairs set out there. That way, adults who want a little peace and quiet can walk out on one of them and bake in the sun without kids running over you splashing water, etc.

I don't know the building numbers, but I'm sure if you call the resort they will tell you. We're owners there, and we were a bit apprehensive about requesting a room across the lake from the main building which has all of the central services (kid's play area, workout room, check-in, etc.); but it actually only takes a minute to walk from there over the bridge across the lake to the new units. We've already decided that the next time we go, we're going to try to get a room overlooking the new pool area. It'll no doubt be a bit noisy, but we're the type of people who feel like we're more on vacation if we hear others having fun.

rejobako - thanks for the description. It sounds wonderful, I can't wait. We will be there in April '05.

Is it possible for you to take some pics of the pool area to sharewith the DIS board?

Hope you're all having a great time :D

Hi,

We just returned from the MGV and I believe the new buildings are numbered in the '70's. Someone correct me if I'm mistaken, but that is what I recall from memory, haven't completely unpacked yet so I don't have the map in front of me. I tried to book in this area and also the bldgs closest to the other main pool area and was told they were reserved for owners only. I booked through Marriott. We did spend half a day at the new pool area and it was very nice, especially for the younger children. I believe the depth ranged from 3-5 ft, this was on the lower level, I'm not sure about the upper.

My digital camera has been on the fritz, but I'll see what I can do. Check back next week; we're coming home Saturday (maybe sooner if Frances makes it necessary to go home and batten down the hatches again.)

Thanks for the info! I hope we can get some of those pictures before we leave. We booked through Marriott so it looks like we might not be able to get a 2br near the new pool. Still going to give it a shot.

Yes, do try anyway and I'd be curious to know how you made out. We were placed in bldg. 93 which I was happy with. It wasn't right at the (older) main pool area but just a very short walk.
