New Poly room views?

True. But makes me wonder when a balcony may become an added upcharge there.

I'd simply put a little $ on that while they're overbooked on Standard for the next while, and even after, the initial "upgrade" for a Standard room assignment will be a Pool/Marina View building... on second floor.

I am so glad they are doing this. We always book standard and I actually don't want to be in Samoa! Pool views have always equaled too much noise for us. We always prefer high floors in Rarotonga and Fiji, luau cove side. With the different categories, I can be assured I won't face a pool. While I think $100 more a night is extreme, apparently they get enough requests for Samoa, in particular, to try to justify it. Now everyone has better guarantee to get what they want.

Do you think they will make DVC owners pay to park?

Could they possibly let them have a pass on that only if they are staying at their home resort?

Or, only if you purchase direct, would you get a pass?

I agree! It is so much nicer when you know what you are booking/paying for. Most people want to pay lowest prices but not stay in the rooms with the poor views. But someone has to stay in the rooms with the poor views of parking lots and dumpsters.
With more categories you pay for what you get. The quality per category is more even.
I actually wish that they would charge for a balcony - that way, if a balcony is important to you, you can pay the extra and know that you will have one. If you don't pay extra, you don't get the balcony - but at least you are paying less $$$$.

"Now everyone has a better guarantee to get what they want" is EXACTLY right! Well said!

This couldn't be a direct perk because of real estate and the dues. Note that none of the perks for direct relate to the real.property interest.

This change happened at Saratoga DVC too. So many people were asking to be closer to Disney Springs that Disney changed the room category to preferred on the locations closest to DS. It is smart marketing but upsetting for the consumer.
