New Policy - Concierge Lounges

I drink it all the time. It's fine. Just put some ice in it and it's even better. I live very near Anaheim and our city's tap water is also fine (and completely tasteless). I drink tap water at home. I drink tap water at Disneyland, every week. I have suffered no ill effects.

I drink tap water at home all the time and so does my son. Neither of us will drink tap water when we are in Anaheim, it tastes so gross to us that we even use bottled water to brush our teeth. It has nothing to do with ill effects and everything to do with the taste.

You are used to the tap water in the Anaheim area so it tastes normal to you. We are from BC and trust me, if you came up here and tried our tap water, it would taste different to you.

We have amazingly clean well water where I live, so when I travel I chooses to drink bottled water. I do not like city water, I find there is an odd taste from the treatment and filtering. Thanks for the heads up, I will be providing my own case of bottled water for our trip next year.

We have outstanding water but drank the tap water last week in Anaheim- ya it isn't that nice but whatever- we were thirsty so we drank it. I don't pay for water (well other than my city utility bill at home)

I've never knew they even had free waters at the onsite hotels til reading it here but is there a limit for how much one can get?
Well, it was included in the perks of staying "concierge" or "club level" but not in the standard onsite rooms.

That was one of the things I loved about concierge level~now to have to provide your own (smaller) bottles is just another additional cost. I'm not sure i want to deal with other families with little ones that let them run amuck in there and hog the 1 computer (PPH) and hoard food back to their rooms though. That's the part that disgusts me. Parents use the lounge as a daycare to have the staff and other guests watch their kids. True story!

I haven't seen that at the DLH or GCH. (Haven't seen it at PPH either, but it has been a year or so since I stayed there.) They do check ages if the kids are entering without a parent. I don't have a problem with people taking food back to their rooms. But I did see a lot of people taking excessive numbers of bottled waters. For us, buying a flat of 24 bottles is $3-4. Not that big of a deal.

Hippy chick checking in - I hate the idea of bottled water due to the amount of waste it causes. Sure, we recycle all our bottles and it sounds like Disney does, but not everyone does. But that being said, I always bring a 32oz Nalgene or similar bottle with us to the parks and would much prefer water as such to fill it up with.

I will second and third those who say the Anaheim Tap Water is disgusting. I drank it for years and am well aware of why I hate drinking water as a habit today. Hubby is way better at it. Our water tasted awful!! Living in a place with good tap water feel like a luxury to me!!!

That said: Florida's water is worse. Yep. I said it. I call it swamp water, because that's what it tastes like straight out of the tap. It MUST be filtered before making soda or anything else with it, so the water that they give you for free in the cups with ice - it's filtered, and so is the water that goes into the ice so it doesn't impact the flavour of the soda, water, tea, whatever... Hubby and I just did a huge trip to WDW for our honeymoon, and only bought four bottles of water the whole time, when we were at Universal and I didn't feel like finding someone with a soda gun to fill up my mug with filtered water and ice when hubby had a raging headache. The water in cups in the park tasted nothing like the water out of the tap at any of the four hotels I've stayed at in Central Florida.

I wouldn't freak out over this change. You can get a free cup of (filtered) ice water at any vendor who has soda, so why would you bother carrying a bottle from place to place if you don't have to? Yikes. We didn't even take a backpack, bag, or purse of any kind to Florida with us, and it was divine not having to schlep that thing around.

while we are talking bout bad water, would buying one those filters you can use anytime, anywhere work?

A number of items to point out. 1 there have been literally 100's of studies that show that a!most 98% of ALL bottled water is nothing more than tap water run through the same filters you get in the stores. Some use better system but the rest don't and that includes all the bigger names. Added to the fact that the plastic bottles are a huge waste the vast majority don't get recycled. So if you can afford to rent a concierge you can buy a filtered water bottle.
It is probably a cost saving for Disney and cuts down on waste.going away from bottled water.
Never had Anaheim water but Orlando's is bad. We bring a water filter along with us to deal with it and use water bottles with filters
So Disney has cutdown on expenses and I can believe about increased recycling cost because I was in charge of recycling programs for entire facilities and some recycling companies do separate and charge for different items due to how they can get their profit

Where are the places that you can refill a water bottle in the parks?
If you read through the thread, ones previously mentioned are Rancho, Mint Julip bar, Tomorrowland Terrace, Pizza Port, the first aid station in DL, in DCA, I believe Taste Pilots, I believe there is one on the wharf, I have been told Award Weiners, and out by Paradise Pier.

Please note that it is FIJI water, not FIGI.

We stayed at the Concierge level at the DL Hotel in August and they happily gave us 6 packs of bottled water when we asked.

6 packs?! How many people did you have staying?

The few times we have stayed concierge (WDW not DL) we take 1 bottle each on our way to the parks in the morning. So maybe as a whole we end up with 6 by the end of the weekend. If we were the standard party of 4 we would have ended up with 12 in a 3 days weekend.

Yes, waters were available during our July/Aug/Sept trips, but when I went in Oct, they explained the new policies.
