I don't like it at all. We are Sunday - Thursday people at Easter due to school. It went up 30 points for us in a 1BR at BCV - our home resort. That's alot of points. We bought 200 knowing we could stay in a 1BR at prime time with no worries - now I don't know what to do - maybe in a studio for a couple nights, then move to a 1 BR. - That's something I dont' want to do. But I'm not driving 1100 miles to go for 3 or 4 nights. It will definatley be a change in our vacation habits. - not going nearly as much and spending as much.

I voted I don't like the change...

For my WDW trips, there's really not much of an impact, but there is for my Vero trips.

Before I start, I will qualify that I absolutely knew points could be reallocated any time. However, they rarely do. So, I purchased 150 points, and that would allow us to book 5 nights in a 2-BR (145 points). Since many people don't book weekends (because weekend nights were 70+ points per night), I could get those at 7 months pretty easily. While I don't have the chart in front of me, I'm positive I can't do that anymore. I'll only be able to get 4 nights. :sad2: A week every year was my game plan, but now I may have to do a small add-on at Vero.

The fees there are a killer, though! :scared:

I like it...for our 7 day trips...we use a point or 2 less.....for our Friday-Monday..trips points are much less

I voted I like it, have not seen them but thought they are spreading it out so weekends don't cost so much. To minimize vacation days used at work and kids out of school we will go for 10 days covering two weekends and this will reduce our overall pts.

We are 8 night folks, 3 weekend nights and 5 weekday nights every other year. Our SSR October 2009 trip (a GV and a studio) is scheduled for 731 points. The same season trip in 2010 would be 747 points, a 16 point increase. What puzzles me is that the points required for a SSR GV for weekend nights increased in every season and decreased for weekdays. I thought the change was intended to decrease weekend point requirements and increase weekday point requirements.

I don't understand or like the change.

Am I missing something?

I'm very happy with the change!!

When we travel to Disney, it's for at least 10 days and always over two weekends. We do this because of the flight costs and to keep missed school/work days to a minimum.

I was always envious of those who lived close by who could drive over:drive: whenever they wanted and use the cheaper days of the week to stay.

This brings our overall point costs per trip down!!!:thumbsup2

From the DVC email I just got it directed you to the member site for news....

Disney Vacation Club adjusts 2010 Vacation Points charts

To help address a growing Member interest in weekend stays and to better manage inventory of available rooms at Disney Vacation Club Resorts, Disney Vacation Club has adjusted 2010 Vacation Points charts, primarily reducing Vacation Point requirements for most Friday and Saturday nights.

In addition to better reflecting the changes in Members' vacationing patterns, the adjusted charts make accommodations more affordable during many popular Walt Disney World® events, such as Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and ESPN The Weekend.

To make this change possible, Vacation Point requirements for most instances of Sunday-Thursday stays are now higher. However, a full week's stay will essentially cost the same amount of Vacation Points as before.

To view the adjusted Vacation Points charts, click on the "View Vacation Points Charts" link in the "Plan My Vacation" section of this Web site (located on the right side of the page).

I hate it. I bought enough points to go for a week SV view at 270 points and now I will need to borrow 2 points from anothe years to do it. So each year (if I were to go every year) will cost me 2 points borrowed the first, 4 points borrowed the 2nd, 6 points borrowed the third. That if they don't change it again.

WHY would they do this??? Were the old charts really a problem??? We also usually go Sun-Thurs, due to work schedules, and bought a certain number of points to accomplish certain trips each year, which we now can't do. Can we complain to DVC about this? How?

Since we are a family of five we are forced into a two bedroom at most dvc resorts. We just signed the dotted line earlier this month for the minimum 160 points. It has always been my dream to stay at The Wilderness Lodge or it's villas. We are too large a family for the regular rooms so joining the dvc made me so happy! We could stay in a two bedroom in january..sun-thur for 150 points...until now. The new chart puts it at 170. I hate it. I'm so mad. I'm happy that my home resort of AKV allows five in a one bedroom but I'm sad about my other options out there. :sad2:

Translation: We want to fill up those unused weekend nights and stop giving members the free ride on weekdays. It's not like it costs twice as much to stay Friday and Saturday it just doesn't cost half as less to stay Sunday - Thursday. Besides the lines for check-in Sunday were far too long anyway.

Translation: By "affordable" we mean "more expensive", especially if you really want to go to VWL for the Christmas Party of BWV and BCV for ESPN. So many members want that we're sure they won't mind paying more for the privilege.

Translation: By "essentially" we mean unless you are staying at SSR or VWL or OKW in October (Choice). But then demand is so high then we're sure you won't mind parting with a few more points. After all you bought extra didn't you? If not, we have some more SSR to sell you.

Translation: Unless, of course, we get too many negative e-mails and phone calls which forces us to take them away again and offer yet another phoney apology. But we'll be certain to put the charts back up just as soon as you all quiet down a bit and forget.

A big thumbs down. We're mostly in the Sun-Thur crowd - we just got hit with a hefty point increase for a BWV 2-bd during the times we usually go.

DisFlan

Right there with you! Not a happy camper here.

just looked at what we do and it works good for us. we go
at least 10 nights twice a year. and we save 1 pt if my math is right.
