New Pirates Cruise for kids?

I just called the rec department at Y&BC. They serve PB&J.

This may be a crazy question...but here it goes. Do you have to have a park tickets to do the PC or any other kid things the resorts offer? Im asking because I just moved to FL and would like my DS (9) to do this. We could make a day trip for smaller things like this without going into the parks everytime.

Southern4sure..They don't ask for a park ticket when you drop the children off, so I would say no. My kids enjoyed the PC from GF last year. I don't think there was any child over 8 on their cruise though.

They serve uncrustables on the cruise and they are made with cheese also, I don't know why Disney doesn't use those.

No park ticket needed. My DS went when he was 8 and there was another child older than him. I told him that the CMs would count on him to help show the younger children how to do the PC. He also had his DS8 with him. He had a blast. He wore that bandana for the rest of the trip. He was a mature 8 year old and I didn't know if he would like it but he LOVED it.

because the cheese ones have to be microwaved, i do believe...

personally, for an event from 9:30 - 11:30 why do they need to serve lunch at all?! i would prefer that they omit that part! (LOL as if i have any say in the matter!)

my dd is ten... methinks she's too old for a cruise of this nature? bummer 'cause i am sure she'd enjoy it (we had it sched'd for last trip but the hurricane cancelled it!)

Yes, the cheese uncrustables are for the microwave, so I can certainly understand why the PBJ ones are a good choice for the cruise.

My DD was 10 last year when she and her brother (8) took the Pirate Cruise, and she LOVED it!

I too am disappointed they serve pb on this cruise. Considering the speed and severity of a reaction it seems a silly thing to do. I'm sure the cast members don't like it any more than the parents. There are excellent pb-like products that are peanut free that could be used instead (soy butter, sunflower butter, etc).

My pb allergic son is also diabetic - would they give him insulin or ? Would they test him? Anyone with a diabetic child who has been on this cruise? Does mom need to go along beside in a row boat?

The thing is that Disney will serve what a) works best for them and b) what works best for the vast majority of children that will take the cruise. From what another parent wrote on this thread, WDW does take precautions for peanut allergic children. As such, I can understand why they don't want to use "pb-like" products that are most likely unfamiliar to kids without peanut allergies in order to serve a small percentage of kids that will be on the cruise.

Hold on and wait just a minute!! I have the PC booked for a child with allergies. I was given a telephone number to call one week before the cruise to discuss what he can and cannot eat. I would hate to think that some small child will not be able to take advantage of this because they have certain allergic reactions to foods. Call Disney Dining again and insist on the telephone number to discuss allergies for this cruise. I have done this many times for the Wonderland Tea Party, and for everything else! --But you must mention this up front, and Disney a week's notice on what they can serve.

Exactly Disney Fool - I have no doubt that WDW will do everything they can to ensure that children with allergies can still take part in the cruise. But I don't agree that they should simply "ban" PBJ uncrustables for all of the kids.

My kids took the cruise last year, and they went to the different resort areas around the lagoon. They looked for treasures, got an eyepatch and a "pirate rag" for their heads. Both of the kids loved it.

Wow! I'm so glad to find out about this! It sounds like a lot of fun that my youngest daughter would just LOVE! We're doing a pirate party for her birthday this month. Is this something that anyone can book to do? We are staying at POR this June, so we are on a resort.

Yes, anyone can do it, and I think you can make the reservation 90 days out. That will be pretty soon for you (lucky you!!!)
