Hi everybody! I just got interested in pin trading last week. I am a little confused about what to buy to start myself off. I assume it's better to buy common pins to trade with CM's, right? In the hopes of getting something good?

So far I have about four pins, one of which (4671) I will not trade. The others are pins I like but would be willing to trade (39935, 42975, 59296). I think it will be best to trade the last one on PinPics because it seems to be very much in demand right now. But the others...what do I do with them?

What should I do to add to my collection - is it worth buying a pack of pins at the park to trade with CM's? I bought 5 on eBay for $15 shipped, we'll see what I get with that lot. I want to collect neat pins but I don't know how to begin! I don't go to Disney parks often...can I trade with CM's at the Disney Store?

Cast Members at the Disney Stores do not trade pins anymore. Except at World Of Disney Stores. You can find clearence pins at your local Disney Store. Use these to trade CM's for Hidden Mickey/Cast Lanyard Exlcusive pins. These are pins other trader's (such as myself) look for.

Cool! What is the difference between pin trading and pin collecting? Do people trade to get pins they want to keep, or do they just trade for the fun of it and don't keep any, or what?

To answer your last question, people trade pins they don't want for pins they want to keep. The idea is that you keep building your collection. About the pin that you mentioned as trading through pinpics, it's a great pin, but not something I would bother going through the trouble of trading. Since you just started, it might be difficult to get someone to trade with you anyway. My suggestion would be to just wear it on a lanyard and see if someone you meet in the parks would be interested in it. Also, for traders, you'll find a lot of good recommendations in this thread.

How did you get a tag with 54 posts?!? :snooty:

Well, there seem to be a lot of people wanting that one, that's all I know. I guess some people might not want to actually trade for it, they just have it on their wants list anyway. I hope to pick up some others when I go back on Wednesday and then offer to trade with CMs, and then maybe I can get started from there.

No idea how I got the tag...I just edited my profile and the option was there! :cutie:
