New Pin Pricing Code at WDW

Disney World is in the process of adopting a new color code pricing system for the pin selling locations.

Pin Label Code Legend

Green........$ 6.95
Red........ ..$ 8.95
Blue..........$10.95
Yellow.......$12.95
Pink..........$14.95
Lavender...$16.95

I'm guessing this will make it easier to raise the prices.

Yes, I have noticed that there is a word and the colored stripe, as well as the bar code.

This way when they decide to lower prices across the board all they have to do is change the register and post new prices at the pin locations and not have to worry about putting new tags on each pin.

Unfortunately it will work the same when they raise prices, which is much more likely.

This has been in place at DL since the beginning of the year. There are still some pins with the old pricing tags but most of them have these new ones now.

I noticed this on my spring break trip to DL. I seemed to always choose blue or above pins. Expensive tastes I guess

What is the sales tax in Florida? Just so I can work out how much I will actually pay for each colour pin (so I know how much $$ I need to change for pin buying!!)

The basic Sales Tax rate in Florida is 6.0% and is on most goods and services. The counties have an option, by vote of their residents, to add a surtax of 0.25%, 0.5%, 1.0% or 1.5% to the state rate.

Orange County, which is most of WDW, has a surtax of 0.5% so purchases (including meals) are taxed at 6.5%.

Osceola County, which has the All-Stars Resorts and Wide World of Sports in it, has a 1.0% surtax so purchases at those locations are subject to a 7.0% tax.

In addition, counties are allowed to have a tax on transient lodging. In both Orange and Osceola Counties it is 6.0%, so all lodging except the All Stars is 12.5% while the All Stars, in Osceola County, is 13.0%.

Thanks for the info. Pins are so much cheaper here in the UK Disney stores. Regular rack pins are between $4.50 and $7.50 and LE 500 pins are $12. Knowing me the pins I like the most will be the pink/lavender ones too! Oh well, I better get saving up!
