I had a few busy days. Yesterday I went to the hospital for short stay surgery and had my port placed. Mini Ouchie but they gave me Percocet for after.
I then went to the surgeon who removed another drain. This one was irritating my skin so even though it wasn't really ready to come out they took it out. Major Ouchie. I am on antibiotics AGAIN!, for the third time since surgery. Two drains out, two to go.
Today at 9:30 am I went for my first Chemo. I was finished at about 12:30 after getting anti nausea meds, one of the Chemos, then saline and then a push of another Chemo, then more saline, then flush the ports with more saline. I think my blood is saltier than the ocean.
They gave me 2 anti nausea meds which thankfully I haven't haven't felt the need to use yet and hope I won't have to. One of them was a sample to get me through until I filled the script. I went to the pharmacy and I have used up my perscription coverage for the year so the script would have been $300 for 20 pills. Guess I should take a drive to Canada. The other was only $20 so I hope that one helps if I need it. I also have an anti anxiety med now so I will sleep tonight because this chemo causes anxiety. Like I didn't have anxiety befor starting Chemo.
Nurse Rachet (Richie) is being wonderful. I am nervous about eating so he asked me what I thought I could eat. He makes the best Macaroni and Cheese so he is at the store right now buying the ingredients. I owe him big time because he is having a really tough time with his Lyme and arthritic and joint pain due to the weather changes but he is always taking care of me first. I wouldn't get such great care if I had a private duty nurse. But he still makes me stay in bed too much.
Thanks for the notes and calls, I will update as I can. Keep the prayers coming.
I do have to apologize for not getting some of my thank you notes out. I brought them with me today but wound up talking to another school nurse who was getting her last treatment for the entire 3 hours. She helped me out with some of my concerns, but now I am socially incorrect. But I have been thinking about writing the cards and will get to them soon. My mother taught me well, and I know I am late. Guilt is a nasty thing. Peggie
