I am planning a trip for late Dec 05 into Jan 06. I was shellling out about 2500 for my hotel. I was thinking of getting in on the DVC SSR at this time.
I have a refeal discount of 15% also. Would I be better off putting my 2500 into the DVC and would I be able to still get in in time for the vacation cumming up? (We go to WDW at least every 2 years at Moderate resorts Dvc sounds like a good idea) Any other newbe advice would be great....

Well you might want to check with someone to see if they have availablility for your trip at all. If so then yes I would use that money towards a purchase since it sounds like you want to buy anyway.

It might be pushing it to try and get something for your dates. Most places are booked for that time, but you could talk to your guide and have them check for you. Let them know that you would prefer to buy-in, but you'd want to use the money you were allocating for the accommodations for the upcoming trip as the downpayment and use points to stay. Maybe they can help you find something....

Doesn't hurt to try, but if DVC is right for your family, they I would recommend you spend that chunk of money on a purchase.

Good luck!

My DH and I used to go to WDW about every 18 months or so at a moderate resort, once we bought DVC we now can afford to go twice a year with superior accomdations. Even though it is just the 2 of us we always get a 1BR because it's nice to have the extra space to relax.

I agree with vascubaguy that it might be difficult to get the dates you want, but I would talk to the guide and let them know you want to purchase DVC and would like to use it for your trip. If you don't have a particular resort in mind OKW has more rooms than the other DVC resorts and you may be able to find room there. Good Luck and I hope you enjoy many years of DVC if you choose to purchase.

They did open up some rooms for December-ish. I just put my down payment this past Monday and was able to secure a 1bdrm villa at SSR for the week after Thanksgiving. Maybe it was good luck but it sure doesn't hurt to try. Your guide can put a hold on a room for you if necessary, providing they are avail of course.

My dates are Dec 30 - Jan 4. They have alot available at like Dixie Landings and Carribean Beach ...

If you are really serious about purchasing DVC, check with a guide and tell them that you are planning a trip for those dates and would like to purchase and book a DVC resort for that time frame. Chances are they will find you something. Dixie Landings and Carribean Beach are not DVC resorts so chances are they wouldn't get you in at one of those places. Like I said previously, OKW has many rooms and that may be your best bet for a DVC resort if you can't get in at SSR where you would be purchasing.
