There is a lot of debate over whether or not Disney will get a new theme park. Well, this isn't the focus of this thread. The question is: If you could create a theme for a new Disney World park, assuming all four got adequate funding, (yeah right :)), what would it be?
Mine would be a GalacticKingdom, or DisneyUniverse, or some Space name. It would be focused on space travel, with lots of interactive exhibits and attractions. It would be like EPCOT's FutureWorld, but entirely focused on space. Think of how many dark rides could be created, plus, with NASA's Kennedy Space Center located within the state, sponsership or partership could be accomplished. If you think about the other attractions this park could offer along with dark rides: roller coasters and other space-themed thrill rides, Buzz Lightyear would be very influential, and possibly antoher Buzz Lightyear ride.

I'm a Harry Potter fan, and I'd like something along these lines. I'm not sure how to handle the obvious religious complications.

Does anyone know if Warner Bros. is looking at a Wizard World?

I would like to see a History park. Disney has always been able to make "learning" fun, and I think they would do an excellent job with the History of our country, as well as other world. They could even showcase how Walt Disney World has influenced the way we look at pop culture today.

First, however, I think they need to make Animal Kingdom a little better before thinking about a new park. Just my humble opinion!

From what I have heard I believe Universal beat Disney to Harry Potter and possibly the LOTR franchises.

Yep Universal has "theme park" right to LOTR and Harry Potter. Which I think might be the unannouced replacement for Kong (Potter).

Mmmm haven't heard anything about that EUROPA! I have heard that there might be a new castle being built in the distant future, one that would eclipse Cindy's.... ;) :D

One would think that if Universal has the rights to a Harry Potter ride, Disney would be on top of things trying to get a ride of the same name-brand caliber as HP. Yet, all they're adding in the near future is Mickey's Philharmagic and SPACE. Now, I'm not complaining...I'm all for new rides. And, yes, I know, SPACE is gonna be so great (knock on wood), but a HP ride is going to seriously draw people away from Disney...moreso than ever before.

Just thought I'd throw my two-cents in.

It's a long shot really but Earl has squashed everything else that was brought up. Including the Mummy. I know it really would not fit in that NY section but then again neither does Twister. Where would they put a castle? In the Studios? That just would not fit, unless they plan on doing a whole new themed area around Fantasy(Potter and LOTR). There is already a castle in IOA. So are you talking about a new park?

The Potter/LOTR sounds like it would be a great idea, and US is into the thrill rides, so it could be amazing...

I would really like to see the concept that keeps poking up; a Villians park. Disney has the rights to so many wonderfully vicious villians....

I might even be afraid to ride Scar's scary Ride; I think he is the most evil one. He literally killed his brother and framed his nephew. :o

:bounce:

DrKnow,
They already tried the History Park, at "Disney's America" to be built in Virginia, but the locals got it shut down because they didn't want a theme park built on civil war battle grounds. Do you know how much of Virginia is a civil war battleground??? *lol* Everything there is built on a civil war battleground!

From what I have heard a third park is definitely in the planning stages but construction is still far, far away. It would shock me to see anything announced in the next 5 years.

-That's not exactly the whole story. Disney wanted to build but have Virginia taxpayers foot the bill for all the transportation improvements that would be needed in an already overcrowded northern VA. And that was the main reason that project went kaput.

Wow, a LOTR attraction! Just imagine the possibilities!!! If Universal handles this right what in the world could Disney come up with to compete?

The sad thing is that Disney could have had LOTR...then again it seems like they might have screwed it up. I mean, heck, there's not enough of a love story & the direct-to-video sequels would be difficult to make.

Sounds like a blessing in disguise to me...If the ei$ner-run disney got their claws into it, we woulda had the disney "syrup song and dance" formula applied to tolkens work. In my opinion, the thought of the fellowship doing a silly song and a softshoe sends shudders up my spine..try saying that three times in a row!!!

If we talked about a new park, Id like to see the company build the texas park they've talked about in hushed whispers for years. You would get both the central US AND the all important Central/South American tourist dollar!!
