New Packing Ap

Thank you for sharing... I love anything to help me pack... with 3 kids ages 17 to 3 and a DH... I need all the help I can get!

Kinda easy to check off stuff as u get it. Plus don't have to track down a pen and paper (and look for it all over the house 2 days later).

I am more and more thinking "The Circle" is not so much science fiction as it is rapidly becoming reality.

For all those wondering what to pack, I just found a packing ap: PackPoint
So far I really like it, and it's free!
Are there any other packing aps that anyone has tried?

That sounds interesting. I'll have to check it out. I use a spreadsheet to make a packing list, and to modify it for each trip. If this app is easy to use, maybe I'll switch. I often loose the list during the trip (I like to use the same list at the end of the trip to make sure I have everything) so an app could really help with that!

Packing when it's just me is definitely a LOT different than when I'm packing for my entire family! I've tried to have my DH be responsible for packing the electronics, but I've spent the last 2 vacations with at least one camera missing a charging cord because he "thought" he packed the correct cord but the cord was either MIA or t wrong cord was packed. If there is an app that I can use (especially for what I need to buy special for the trip), I'm all for it since I'm the family packer and am more apt to miss something!

Did you mail reply in the post or type it on your computer?

I never said computers were worthless. But I think I'm some cases - like apps for packing - they are over complicating things.

I like keeping my packing list electronically for several reasons:

1) I keep a running list from trip to trip, and modify it as needed. (I split it into sections, clothes, beach, medical, outdoors, etc. so that I can take out whole parts of the list depending on the type of trip.)
2) I also take note of what things I packed but didn't need and what things I needed but didn't pack, to help for next time.
3) I use it to track what I need to buy (or find) for the trip as it gets closer.
4) I show it to my wife and teens can see what I plan to bring/tell me I'm nuts. It is a good way to start the "what shall we bring?" conversation.
5) I print out multiple copies so that my family members can pack their parts.
6) I e-mail copies to other family members going on the same trip, so they can use it, or so they don't duplicate things we can share.
7) I use it as a final check-list when I pack for the trip and when I pack to return home.

For me, pen and paper would just take too long and might get lost/destroyed. Also, I am a bit too methodical. But I like it. I am a planner. That is one of the reasons I come to this Board!

I think this is a great idea, thanks for sharing! I am going to check it out.

We use google sheets for our packing list. That way both myself and my fiance can add, edit, etc and we can both see it immediately.

The one thing I don't like is the ability to add more people. Maybe I need to work with it more, but it will work great for my business travel. Not to be snarly but too often I have lost the paper list I started... I always know where my phone is!

I gave DH one job... pack my hair dryer. My fallacy was asking DS to ask DH to pack it for me. He thought DS wanted it (not me) and said it was too big and we'd all use his crappy travel hair dryer that needs to be cleaned. Luckily for me, the Fantasy has wonderful hair dryers.

Thank you for taking the time to share this! Great reasons I hadn't thought of for doing my list making electronically!

I have been using an app called Travel List. Not sure if its the same or still available. Pretty simple but very customizable. I even have parts specific for certain travel, such as cruises, international, etc. Very easy to use.
